Sean's Side of the Story

It was June in the unforgettable year of 2020. The on-set of COVID-19 shutdowns began, heightening political tensions began to boil with the upcoming election, and, oh yeah, I met my future wife, Cameron Patsy Gresham. I'm honored to give you my side of the story before Cami gives the sarcastic half-truth of "He creeped on me on Facebook!", which would be #FakeNews Cami and I had a lot of mutual friendships from us both being involved and on-staff with the same college ministry, Campus Outreach (CO), despite us being in separate states. Cami went to college at Georgia College in the thriving metropolis of Milledgeville, GA; whereas I attended the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, FL (SWOOP!). After Cami finished her 3-year staff tenure with CO at the University of South Carolina, the Lord would providentially have it that she would move down to Daytona Beach, Florida to get her Masters in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary. While in school, Cami began attending and serving at one of the churches that Campus Outreach was connected to in the area (Christ Community Church) and in which I knew some folks. Aaaaaand fast-forward 3 years. During that span, some of said Daytona Beachians moved up to Jacksonville and as occasional memories of Campus Outreach were shared amongst groups, I would commonly hear of a girl named "Cami Gresham" pop up--and the more I heard, the more I liked. THE PURSUIT (and Quarantine) Up until this point of the story, I had never personally met Cami; though, we had been in the same room numerous times in hindsight. As COVID began to make its presence known in 2020, Facebook seemed to insist on making Cami's (virtual) presence known in my life as well because any time I logged on, she would always pop up under the "People You May Know" banner, since we had so many mutual friends. And no, Facebook, I didn't know her, but I surely wanted to. So I "shot my shot"...by texting a mutual friend (shoutout Lynn Walter!)

Easy enough! Lynn filled Cami in on me being interesting in taking her out on a date and asked permission to pass along her phone number for me to contact her. Here's how Cami and I's first conversation went on the phone: *straight to voicemail* Oh, true. I guess I could just leave her a voicemail, right? "The mailbox is full and can't accept any more messages. Good-bye!" Alrighty then. All of my hopes of being somewhat formal about this whole process were completely down the drain. So there I am as the ultimate lame-o asking this girl out on a date via text message, but by God's grace, she said yes. The date was planned for June 11th, 2020 at 1pm if you're looking for specifics.

To make a long story short...(I'm sure Cami will give you all of the aesthetic and sappy stuff) Our first date last approximately 13 hours--totally unplanned; it kind of just kept going... Lunch (tacos, of course) turned into a trip to the thrift store to buy each other a gag gift. After that the afternoon post-taco food coma led to coffee, which meandered into more conversation and reflecting on shared testimonies and experiences. Eventually it was already almost 5pm, so I decided to ask, "What are your thoughts on dinner, too?" She obliged because I offered to take her to Aunt Catfish's, which, for those who have been there, know that it is not twisting someone's arm to suggest that foretaste of heaven to go to eat. The night ended with us sitting in here driveway until 2am talking and cackling over YouTube videos. I knew this one was different. By the end of the night, I expressed my desire to continue to pursue her (which is Christianese for "take out on more dates"). A little over a week later, I officially asked her to be my girlfriend. Just under 5 months later, I asked her to marry me. By God's grace again, she said yes to me a second time. And now, we are overjoyed to have you all join us in celebrating all the the Lord has done in us and through us as we say yes to each other for the third and final time on July 16th, 2021.

Cami's Side of the Story

I’m sure Sean spent a good amount of time trying to convince you that he didn’t facebook stalk me, but, the truth is, he totally did. It was early June. My parents were down for a much needed quarantine vacation, and a few things (most importantly the beach) were starting to open up for the first time since lockdown. On the last day of their visit, I was helping them pack up, so I didn’t notice that I had not just one but two missed calls from my friend Lynn which was very unusual. Then I got this text:&nbsp;

Somehow I instantly knew he was talking about Sean. I called back after my parents left and sure enough, it was Mr. Sean Moore. It’s funny because Sean and I would come to find out that we had been in the same place together multiple times with tons of mutual friends, but we had never said two words to each other. Go figure.&nbsp; But I gave Lynn the greenlight to give Sean my number after I asked a few questions, of course, and was excited to see what would happen next! Sean didn’t waste any time. He called me that night but I was out with friends, so he had to resort to a text message (my bad!) To be fair it was a really good text! I loved how straightforward he was and made plans to call him back. The next day we talked on the phone just long enough to flirt a little and laugh a lot and officially agree to a first date :)&nbsp;&nbsp; A week later Sean drove down to Daytona to pick me up at my house, and I could tell that we were both a little nervous but totally trying to play it cool. It’s safe to say the ice was sufficiently broken when he almost drove us into oncoming traffic on the way to lunch. I went from cool calm and collected to shouting “YOU CAN'T TURN HERE” real quick. We went to get tacos at Tia Coris for lunch, and truth be told I still have nooo idea what he said during this part of the date lol (sorry babe!) I just remember thinking “who is this guy?” and how bright blue his eyes were. I was surprised when we got back in the car and he looked at me with a smile and said, “Are you ready for the next part of our date?” I was surprised because I thought we would just go to lunch, talk a little, and then go home…silly me. The date lasted a casual 13 hours and we spent the day just talking and laughing and really enjoying each other’s company. We shared so many sweet moments that day, and, after Sean said goodnight, I remember thinking “this is the man I’ve been praying for.” It was so late by the end of our date that he ended up staying the night at a friend’s house, so, naturally, I asked him to breakfast the next morning! By the time he left to head back to Jacksonville the next day, we had pretty much had three dates already (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) lol. From that moment on we were both all-in. We called and facetimed every day the following week as Sean started his new job at TQL and as I helped lead a week-long discipleship project in Daytona, and that weekend Sean drove back down, knocked on my door, and officially asked me to be his girlfriend before I could even say, “hey handsome.” We both knew early on that this was different, and not even a month after that first date we knew that we wanted to be with each other for the rest of our lives. I’m sure we may have freaked out our family and friends a little bit, but, hey, when you know you know. And we knew. From the very beginning Sean has made me feel seen and loved in a way I have never experienced before. He has laughed with me, danced with me, prayed with me, and cried with me. He continually points me back to our Savior and makes the love of Christ sweeter and more tangible to my often fickle heart. He is my lover and my friend and I can’t wait to finally marry him on July 16th!!&nbsp;&nbsp;
