Ahhh yes the spot where John proposed to Camilla....and where she said yes! It is a special place to the bride and groom. Countless walks with each other but also hammocking & swimming with friends, runs during Camilla's half-marathon training days, and John belting Christmas songs as he shivered, forgetting his jacket one December.
Coffee at Blanchards is one of Camilla's favorite Richmond spots. In college she would bring bags of beans home to share with her family because she loves it so much. The table in the corner by the window is home to many great memories between her and her friends. Blanchard's coffee at Redeemer (our church in Richmond)'s coffee hour even started to convince John how much he loves it.
If you're looking for a sweet breakfast spot in the Fan of Richmond, head to Nates. It's not a New York bagel but it is a yummy breakfast sandwich stop. Favorites include the Ol Virginy (with red pepper jelly if you're feeling fancy) or the Classic. Camilla and John spent many early (and well late) mornings sitting on the steps outside of Nate's. Some of our favorite talks have been over a warm bagel (even one right as it starting pouring rain on a chilly spring day).
THE BEST ice cream in Richmond. It is on Strawberry Street and neighbors to Idle Hands. It really is a great street. Favorite flavors are banana pudding, strawberry rhubarb, and cookie dough!
Camilla is obsessed with combining TASTE's sweet and unsweet apricot tea. Sandwiches are delicious - Camilla loves the Northender! Another favorite is the Granny Goat salad.
Head next door for the best tiramisu in town at Stella's.
Down the block from TASTE is Gelati Celesti. Although John and Camilla are both partial to Scoop ice cream (yes you can quote that), this is where John asked Camilla to be his girlfriend (the first time).
While we don't recommend you actually eat here...this is Camilla and John's first date spot.
This also happens to be where you will park for the wedding ceremony. It is where John and Camilla first met. Friendship continued during many IM seasons and Sunday afternoon hangouts with friends.
This art museum is beautiful and free to the public! The gallery is filled with a rotating exhibit, oil landscapes, and ancient art. A great way to spend Saturday morning. There is also a full lawn, great for reading, soaking up the sun, or bringing a picnic lunch.
If you're looking for a fun Saturday morning activity, head over to the BIG RVA market in Byran Park. Open from 8-12 on Saturday morning. There are easy places to park and some fun artist booths. There is a set of food trucks, but they tend to run out earlier in the morning.
Our favorite nachos ever! Huge portions and yummy drinks
Although it's most beautiful at sunset, Libby Hill is a great place to sit or walk around. Camilla has spent many picnic nights with friends, and it is a favorite spot from college. John will happily suggest a drive to sunset after any Richmond date night.
If you like French food or a good time head to Can Can. Also great for brunch or cafe breakfast in the morning!
