Yes! Before Grand Rapids, MI assumed its current identity of Beer City USA, it was famed to be Furniture City USA. Dozens of furniture manufacturers called Grand Rapids, MI home, and at one point, over half of the city worked in related industries. Plentiful nearby forests and the well-situated Grand River made this hub possible.

The Cheney Place was a part of this storied industry, producing the Cheney Talking Machine, a hand-crank phonograph, starting in 1914. Camille and Alex are excited to marry in a piece of Furniture City USA history - an old warehouse, turned event space! While honoring its roots, The Cheney Place now nods to the city's new affiliation, and will be serving several local, craft beers at the cocktail hour and reception.

During the ceremony, keep your eye out for the original freight elevator, which is still operational. If you already visited the Story page, you know that Camille and Alex have a soft spot for elevators.
