Once upon a time, during recess at Thurston Middle School, a young Cammie and Ryan likely waited in the snack cart line next to each other to get their daily chocolate chip cookies and Izze sodas. But, despite what must have been countless close encounters at the small school, they never actually met face to face.
7 years later, as Ryan was heading into his sophomore year as a volleyball player at USC, he got a call from an old friend. He said that there was a tall, smart, beautiful girl from Laguna coming to play beach volleyball at USC that Ryan just had to meet. Her name was - you guessed it - Cammie Dorn.
This friend couldn’t have been more right - they did have to meet. Their personalities couldn’t have clicked more seamlessly (plus, they were both #24!) and it’s no wonder why Ryan fell so hard from the onset. Cammie was vibrant, smart, funny and kind, and within a few weeks Ryan knew he had met the first person in his life he could see himself marrying. Ryan, on the other hand, was a cool sophomore boy that knew the ropes (A.K.A., where all the parties were), and Cammie found herself infatuated with him instantly. The only problem? The two became fiercely good friends.
Despite being constantly teased by their mutual friends for “liking” each other, Cammie felt that risking the friendship she had with Ryan - a guy she could finally trust and be herself around - would be foolish. Even Cammie’s Mom visited for parent’s weekend, met Ryan, and told Cammie she thought they should be together! (Yep, Moms always know best.) So, despite all the signs that said otherwise, “they” agreed to just be friends throughout college and to only explore more once they graduated, because their present friendship was too special to risk. Although Ryan was hesitant to stay put in the friend-zone, this ended up being the best thing that could have happened, and they spent the rest of college laughing, making memories, playing lots of drinking games, and building the foundation of a true lifelong friendship.
After Cammie graduated and Ryan returned from playing pro volleyball in Europe, the two found themselves living in Los Angeles during the pandemic. They began "quarantining" together every weekend, alongside their 4 other close friends, and became - once again - inseparable. Just over 5 years after meeting at USC for the very first time, Ryan and Cammie finally accepted they were destined to be more than just friends. They kissed once and never looked back, falling more and more in love each day moving forward.
Ryan and Cammie moved to Newport Beach two years ago to start their little life together. They have raised a sweet golden retriever girl named Jenny, built their own business, and been on countless adventures together (The first of which being Mammoth in 2019, back when they were just friends!) It’s safe to say, their marriage has been inevitable from the start, and the two can’t wait to start their life as husband and wife. They plan to travel a lot, work hard, and have a biggg family - like 4 kids, big! They are eternally grateful for your love and support throughout their journey thus far. To those joining them in Mammoth on 9/7, they can’t wait to share more of their love story with you and celebrate BIG time!
