“Beyond a Fairytale” Once upon a time there was a girl called Caoimh, Who wanted a man like you wouldn’t believe&nbsp; She was a hopeless romantic, yet her search for a man became quite frantic&nbsp; When she stopped searching and focused on herself&nbsp;Her story began as if from a bookshelf&nbsp; She wrote him a love poem before she knew himThen wrote him another a few months in. But she’s in love with him now as she was then!&nbsp;For their love has grown &amp; grownA love like theirs we’ve never known. She feels safe in his arms &amp; safe by his side. Sometimes she’s loved him so much she has cried! She trusts him more than anything, and now to show this - she has a ring.&nbsp; But it’s much more than the bling on show&nbsp;Even behind closed doors, she glows! He often tells her he has butterflies but for her he has beaten all the guysThoughts of him, brings tears to her eyes. Then there’s the love that none of us see.How they know each other with such ease. Not a day goes by but they have laughter&nbsp;And they will certainly live happily ever after. Many have judged that they should’ve taken it slow&nbsp;But they both know they met a long time ago. For their souls were one &amp; then torn apartThey’ve been making their way back to each other from the start! The just needed to trust that when the time was right&nbsp;They would find each other almost over night. Its hard to believe but the universe had a plan&nbsp;She was always his &amp; he was always her man&nbsp; The were destined to have the best life &amp; not a day goes by she can’t wait to be his wife. Caoimhe grew up in Patrickswell in Limerick where she lived with her adoring and supportive family for most of her life. She moved to Cork in 2021 and met Daniel 2 years later. She always prioritised her health and happiness yet admittedly felt she was missing her 'person'. Daniel arrived and he was 100% the missing piece.

Daniel was imported from England after a few months of being born. His childhood was a mix of living in West Cork and Dungarvan (Co.Waterford). Daniel in Caoimhe's words was a serial dater, looking for his one, which he eventually found and knew he could finally stop! Caoimhe had taken his interest from the first moment they spoke back in July 2023 and the rest was history. Daniel was known to be a "lone wolf" but eventually found his side kick in Caoimhe!

Bridesmaids

All time bestie of the bride since 3 years of age when they attended play school together. Mary and Caoimhe have been friends through thick and thin and are always looking out for one another.

Mary Donohue

Aoife has been a wonderful friend and cheerleader to the bride since they met when she started going out with her brother James. 8 years later and she is certainly one of the family.

Caoimhe and Áine met during the covid lockdown and quickly became friendly as they passed each other on their walks down Faha. Áine rescued Bruff, the family dog in a time of need and their friendship has flourished since.

Caoimhe and Laura met when they took the leap to move to Cork. Many roadtrips, sleepovers and nights on the town later and they fell in love with the rebel county. Not long untill they also fell in love with Daniel and Ayrton!

Laura Ruttledge

Gráinne and Caoimhe met shortly after she started going out with her brother Daniel. They immediately got on great and Gráinne has always made Caoimhe feel welcome and part of the family.

Jean went to sceondary school with Caoimhe where they became friends. They also attended University of Limerick together. They have supported each other throughout their journeys to reaching their dreams.

The brother of the groom, they are so close that their birthdays land right next to each other on the calendar but at the same time, they are quite far apart as Matthew happens to be a Liverpool fan. Chosen to be the best man as the brothers have been there for each other through thick and thin.

Matthew McCarthy

The lad from Mayyyy-oh! (Mayo). You wouldn't find a better man to lead a room full of laughs, never a dull moment when you are around him, but at the same time, very level headed. Daniel and Kealum have been friends for the best part of nearly 10 years when they found each other online gaming. He would have a story or two on what he thought of the groom at first. Don't be afraid to ask!

Kealum Redmond

Going by this guy's headshot, you would be thinking he wanted your vote really. But in reality, you'd only be spoiling your vote if you did!
Questions are raised on this friendship by many people over the years. It's a rare occurrence that Chris or Daniel would have a nice word to say to each other. But they have some level of respect for one another going back to when they first met in 3rd Class in Abbeyside Primary school. It wasn't long ago they had American friends believing Daniel that Chris had no legs. Long Story.

Christopher O'Grady

The newest addition to Daniels gang! Vineet and Daniel first met when Vineet introduced him to his first day in Stryker back in August 2023. It wasn't long before Daniel saw the characteristics he likes to have around him. Trust and Loyalty. Vineet would do anything for you and one of the nicest people you would ever meet. Not one to shy away and join in with the typical "Irish Humour". You could say, Daniel is probably a bad influence at times.

Ahhh Kevin, the most intelligent man you would ever meet. Daniel has openly admitted this guy solo carried him through college after they met in WIT in 1st year back in 2018. While Daniel would be frustrated looking at notes hoping to pass, this fellow would just need to listen in class and understood it all. But it wasn't all about helping Daniel with education, hes the guy to pull a step ladder out of his pocket, you need something he has it, while also having a wise mind that would always guide you in the right direction.

Kevin Burke

Fintan AKA The West Brit. Being from Dublin, this guy wouldn't be long calling you a "bogger". It wasn't for a few years the gang found out his roots were Kerry, what scandal that was! Fintan is the quiet lad, but when he does speak, you're trying to keep yourself together from laughing hard, while also loves a good pint of Guinness! Daniel and Fintan met online gaming, (Chris unfortunately happened to be there that day too!). Many games later and the Dub is now one of his groomsman. He's fond of Watermelons to be fair to him! Also has a natural rivalry with Kealum due to Fintans smug success with the Sam Maguire since their friendship began.

Mia is Daniel's goddaughter and niece. The bride and groom adore Mia and her vibrant and fun personality. Mia enjoys dancing and performing.

When is the RVSP Deadline?

We would be happy for all guests to be able to RSVP by the end of March. The RVSP tab is available or the button is shown on the home page.

Are Credit/Debit cards accepted on the Island?

Cards and Contactless is available throughout the Island, there is also an ATM available in the An Siopa, however, the shop does close at 5.30pm. The shop is a 30 seconds walk from the venue.

Do you need to book a room?

No you won't, rooms are assigned to all guests when they RSVP.

*Guests are advised to stay the Thursday night before the wedding, the Friday night of the wedding and the Saturday night of the Day 2. However, if you want to come on the Friday, it is best to take the earliest boat out to give enough time.*

Getting to the Island

To get to the island you can travel by plane or boat from Galway, or by boat from Clare. Once you get to the island, everything is a short walkable distance.

Via Connemara Regional Airport (Galway)

The Connemara Regional Airport is located in Inveran, a small village 30km west of Galway City. Parking is available at the airport 24 hours a day. Aer Arann Islands fly from Connemara Regional Airport to Inis Oirr year-round but are weather dependent. The planes to the islands are small and carry 9 passengers. The flight from Connemara Regional Airport to Inis Oirr takes less than 10mins.

Ancient Ruins and Castles

Cnoc RaithníThis monument is a bronze age burial mound dating to c.1500 BC Teampall Chaomháin (Church of St. Cavan)St Caomhán’s church (10th -14th century) is located in the island’s graveyard.&nbsp;Be sure to see these sunken ruins that are truly unique and not to be missed.&nbsp;Until very recently the Island community used to dig out the sands that the Atlantic winds brought in, almost completely burying the church. The site would have been buried and possibly lost but for this tradition. This is the main burial site still used on the island today. Caisleán Uí Bhriain &amp; Dún Formna (O'Brien's Castle)O’Brien’s Castle, also called Furmina Castle, is an early 15th century tower house and National Monument that you can’t miss when you arrive. O’Brien’s Castle is located at one of the Island’s highest points, in the north of Inisheer. The castle was built by the Clann Teige, a branch of the powerful O’Brien (Uí Briain) family, in the early 15th century around 1400. It was taken by the Ó Flaithbheartaigh (O’Flahertys) around 1582. It was captured and slighted by Oliver Cromwell’s army in 1652, during the Cromwellian conquest of Ireland. The castle is built within the walls of Dún Formna Fort which dates back to the Stone Age. An Túr FaireThis is a 19th Century Signal Tower, erected by the British during the reign of Napoleon. This was one of a series of watch towers built along the Irish coast to warn of an impending sea attack by the French which never materialised. Cill na Seacht nIníonTranslated into English as ‘Church of the Seven Daughters’, this is recorded as the oldest monastic site on the island. Nothing is known of these seven female saints.

The Plassy ShipwreckThe Plassey was a cargo vessel in the Irish Merchant Service, operating during the 1950s. It was built as HMS Juliet, a Shakespearean-class naval trawler of the Royal Navy at the start of the Second World War, and sold into merchant service at the end of the conflict. As Plassey it was wrecked in a storm off Inis Oirr, and is best known as the wreck seen on the foreshore of ‘Craggy Island’ in the TV comedy, Father Ted. LighthouseThe Inis Oírr Lighthouse is a spectacular attraction on the island, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the rugged coastline and vast Ocean. Built in the 19th century, this iconic structure served as a vital aid to navigation for ships traveling along the treacherous waters off the coast of Ireland. Today, the lighthouse stands tall as a testament to the island’s rich maritime history and is a popular destination for tourists seeking an unforgettable experience. A leisurely walk up to the lighthouse provides visitors with an opportunity to capture stunning photographs of the natural beauty of the island. The lighthouse was automated in 1978, but its beauty and significance remain undiminished. The Inis Oírr Lighthouse is a must-see attraction for anyone visiting the island of Inis Oirr and promises to leave a lasting impression on all who experience its majestic grandeur. Tobar ÉannaThe Holy Well of St. Enda, patron saint of the Aran Islands who died c 530 AD. This well is a place of pilgrimage to this day. Cill GhobnaitChurch built in the 8th or 9th Century, dedicated to St Gobnait, the patron saint of beekeepers who found refuge for a time on Inisheer. The remains of a beehive hut and gravestones are also visible at the site. Cloch MemorialMonument erected in memory of all the islanders who lost their lives at sea.
