Carly attended Syracuse University (’17) and Alex attended, neighboring, LeMoyne College (’16). While both played lacrosse and had many mutual friends, the two of them only ‘knew of each other’ during that time and occasionally attended the same parties. Coincidentally, both moved to Boston after they graduated but still only ran into each other on rare occasion through mutual friends. Carly moved to Middletown, CT in 2019 to get her Masters and coach at Wesleyan University. When her season was cancelled in March 2020 due to Covid-19, she returned to Boston for a night to visit friends before heading back to hometown, Rochester NY to be with family for the unforeseeable future.

Carly and Alex officially ‘met’ in March 2020 at Coogan’s Bar in Boston on the last day before all of the bars shut down. It was $1 beers, so the rest was history (& forgotten).

Alex returned to his hometown of East Syracuse, NY for the duration of the pandemic so the two continued to see each other. Upon Carly’s graduation from Wesleyan (’21), she shipped it back up to Boston to live with Alex. When a job at her alma mater called in October 2022, Alex and Carly packed up and moved to Syracuse together.

On December 19, 2022, Alex had to return to Boston for a ‘work’ meeting and brought Carly with him. After a late arrival and a quick shower, Alex and Carly walked to dinner. While passing a large, lit up Christmas tree, Alex turned and got on one knee. Luckily there was not one soul around on that dark Monday evening because if there were, they would have heard many loud “what the F&^%?!?!” from Carly. It was an amazing surprise in the same city that they ‘met’. She said YES.

We can't wait to celebrate our big day with all of our closest friends and family.
