It was a leap of faith for both of them. Jonah decided to try going on one last date before giving up on the tediousness of dating apps. Carrie took a chance and swiped right despite some reservations about his tattoos and love of big dogs.

After matching on December 18th, 2021, they started talking and decided to meet two days later. On an icy, post-Covid, mask mandated winter day, they met outside a coffee shop and quickly entered to escape the cold. Instantly, both of their glasses fogged up and they shared their first laugh. Only after they had gotten their coffees and returned outside for a walk did Jonah and Carrie actually see each other for the first time.

A short walk effortlessly melted away to three and half hours. Still eager to talk but with their legs hurting and fingers numb, they planned a second date for the very next day. Just four days later Jonah agreed to spending their fourth date with Carrie's entire family for Christmas dinner. Carrie's sisters immediately accepted him and with that the deal was sealed. Nine days from having met, they officially started dating.

Jonah and Carrie moved in together in June of 2023. The following year, Jonah's parents came down from Elliot Lake to spend the Canada Day long weekend and meet Carrie's parents for the first time. After a beautiful day by the pool and birthday dinner, Jonah announced that despite it being his birthday, he had a gift for her and led her into the garden. Having both their parents present to share the joyous moment, Jonah got down on one knee and proposed with the beautifully special ring that his very own parents had gotten engaged with.
