Sort of! You do not need a passport as we will still be in the United States. However, Kauai does have a special customs process that travelers must go through both coming in and leaving the island. In a nutshell: don't bring produce or animals onto the island, and have reef-safe sunscreen to use instead of typical commercial brands.
