As they say, tennis begins with love! But for us maybe it was the other way around. In Madison, WI in 2017, two twenty-somethings separately joined an open USTA tennis league and found each other at the first practice for our new team. Raj made a questionable comment about how co-ed soccer was “risky” and Cass thought it was funny that she was about to play tennis with a guy who had the same name as her dad.

But, despite early awkward interactions, Raj got Cass's number for the purpose of "hitting together," in order to "practice for our matches." He then texted her about food and sent a recipe for gulab jamun, which was really the secret to her heart.

Time goes by and there is some fancy cooking, a white lie about a John Mayer concert, a couple hangouts watching the US Open, Cass pretending to know more about premier league soccer than she really did, and bing-bang-boom, here we are!

Just two half-Indian kids who both played soccer and tennis growing up, falling in love with each other on the tennis court at Tenney Park in Madison.
