Jesse and Cassidy met on the dating app Hinge after Jess spotted Cassidy's dog in one of the photos. For their first date on March 2, 2020, they met at Dale's Bar in Maumee, OH. There they kept conversation of MANY diverse (maybe not quite first date) topics like work, passions, religion, the criminal justice system (there it is), and this new "fad" sickness that was beginning to rear its head called "covid." They spent hours at that bar, mulling over drinks and the horrifically burnt appetizer selection they made.
Like many people, they truly believed Covid was going to blow over in a couple weeks and that everyone was panicking for nothing....2 weeks later we were in lockdown. That didn't stop a certain lady from wanting to hangout and get to know Jess. They talked, made plans and even went and picked up a dog together (technically it was only Jess's dog at the time...the rescue made Jess and Cassidy take a photo together...Cassidy counts it as a date).
Over the last few years, Jesse and Cassidy have grown together through some of the hardest times of their lives. They're always there for one another and are excited about getting to live the rest of their lives together!
Cassidy tried her best to stay in the background while Jess had his moment with Gracie but the foster had other plans. The foster wanted them both in the photo. While not the most ideal situation (Especially when they used the photo on their Facebook page), they now have this amazing memory to look back on.
This was for Cassidy's best friend Emily's rehearsal dinner, which took place at The Toledo Zoo. This would be the first of MANY weddings they'd attend together! This location would also become an important cornerstone of their relationship.
One of the reasons Jess decided to talk to Cassidy was because of her dog Addison. When it was decided Jess and Cassidy were going to move into together they needed to make sure the dogs got along. Turns out they are long lost best friends. They play with each other everyday and help to make the house feel like a home.
They joined Cassidy's family in OBX for some much needed beach time after the bulk of 2020. It rained almost the ENITRE time, but that didn't stop them from having fun and playing Spikeball, a game which would bond both them and their families. Just don't let Jess and Cass be on the same team...
Jess and Cassidy decided in 2021 that they wanted to host a Halloween party for their families and it was an amazing night! They kicked off the party dressed as zookeepers from The Toledo Zoo (hint). They held costume contests along with lots of delicious spooky food and drinks. They loved it so much they decided to make it a tradition every October!
Jess and Jess's mom wanted to share their passion for Michigan football and took Cassidy to her first game. This was the only game out of the first 3 Cassidy has gone to where it wasn't either 200 degrees outside or -10 with wind and rain....needless to say Cassidy is more of an indoor sports fan.
Cassidy also had a passion she wanted to share with Jess...animals! A stray needed a foster at her work and Jess couldnt say no (well he tried at least). Milo or "Bubby" quickly became a part of the family and wasn't going anywhere.
Jess loves him now ;)
November 6, 2022, Jess led Cassidy on an all-day scavenger hunt around the Toledo area. Featuring places they'd frequent and that held meaning to them. Cassidy, accompanied by her sister Jennifer, made their final stop at the Toledo Zoo (see). Outside the aquarium where they took the photo from Cassidy's best friend's wedding, Jess met up with Cassidy and led her to the conservatory. It was there Jess got on one knee and asked Cassidy to marry him. After she OBVIOUSLY said yes, both their families came out to surprise Cassidy. It was an amazing day!
