The Beginning
Davis and Cassidy met during the summer of 2020. They spent the majority of their first year together hiking in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park; they hiked at least once a week and sometimes up to three times a week. While neither was looking for a long-term relationship, life had other plans. They fell in love after sharing a mutual fascination for quality theater, the great outdoors, deep conversation, continued learning, and sharing memes.
Distance makes the heart grow fonder
Starting in May 2021, Davis left Tennessee to pursue his career in theatrical lighting design with his first position being at the New London Barn Playhouse in New London, New Hamshire. By the fall of 2021 Cassidy had started PA school and Davis had moved to Naples, Florida to work as a lighting intern at Naples Players Theater. Both were struggling with busy, tiring, difficult schedules and being separated was devastating. Just as Cassidy was wrapping up her first quarter of PA school, Davis came up for Christmas; their first meeting in 7 months. Their meeting was supposed to be short but Davis contracted COVID and ended up staying an extra week and a half during which he successfully interviewed for a full-time position in Crossville, Tennessee at Cumberland County Playhouse as a scenic carpenter starting in June 2022. Those last 6 months were grueling, but motiving for the couple and only secured their love for one another.
What's next?
In June 2022, Davis finally moved back up to Tennessee; while his position was an hour away in another time zone, the couple was ecstatic to be so close to one another. By January 2023, Cassidy had started clinicals and they decided to make the next step by moving in together; first living in an apartment in Knoxville, Tennessee and then moving to a small house in Maryville, Tennessee. The house was small but their love was huge and filled the space to the brim. Cassidy graduated from PA school in December and looks forward to starting her career at Northern Light Neurology in Bangor, ME. Davis is excited to live out his dreams of ice fishing and continuing to explore the great outdoors. Wherever the journey takes them, they are committed to each other and to adventures both big and small. While the future is uncertain, two things are for sure: 1. Davis and Cassidy will continue to love and support one another and 2. Davis will eventually build a cabin that he and Cassidy can live off the grid in :)
Fun Facts!
o On their first date, Davis didn't recognize Cassidy in the parking lot. Instead, he bolted away!
o Also on the first date, Davis suggested that Cassidy save part of her large calzone for lunch the next day. Instead, Cassidy defiantly told him that he would have to watch her finish it, which he did to both of their amazement
o Their first hike was Bote Mountain trail to campsite 16. There Davis lit a fire in the firepit and in Cassidy's heart
o Cassidy first told Davis "I love you" on January 6, 2021 after realizing how fragile and unpredictable life can be.
o Davis knew Cassidy was special when he made a reference to the "they did surgery on a grape" meme and she was the only person on the table who laughed
o They both enjoy going to breweries. Davis likes to drink the beer and Cassidy likes to pet the dogs
o They love ice cream! Cassidy's favorite flavor is mint chocolate chip, which Davis thinks is yucky, meaning they don't have to share with each other
