Cate and Alec met and started dating during their sophomore year at the University of Dayton. Their connection grew stronger through college life together and visiting each others family homes during summer and winter breaks.


As graduation came near, Alec found himself moving to Cincinnati for a job opportunity - only it wasnt the job that drew him there, but also Cate, who was heading back to her hometown to start her nursing career.


After starting the next chapter of their lives together in Cincinnati, some of you may know about the infamous hourglass. Cates dad, Greg, gifted Alec a hourglass, jokingly putting Alec on the clock to propose.


A year and a half later on their annual 4th of July trip to Northern Michigan, Alec caught Cate by surprise and proposed on Memorial Beach in Alecs hometown of Elk Rapids, MI.
