Our Story

The Magic School Bus

We first meet on a CatBus to a Clemson Football September 2015. We just started talking and we hit it off right away! We walked across campus and talked the whole way. I wowed him with my impressive poker game winning the night before and we promised to keep in touch. We exchanged numbers and parted way.

A few months later, and after I spammed his Instagram with likes, I was driving to campus to work on my Crayfish fighting project, my super cool experiment. Alex texted me out of the blue, asking if I lived in the University Village Apartment complex, he saw me driving to campus in my little Subaru. We apparently lived in the building right next to each other!

From Talking to Dating

We started texting every day and then started our Snapchat streak (we got to over 200 days before Alex messed it up, but we were together when that happened so it was all okay!) I was in charge of "Walk for Veterans" a walk to raise money for all the student Veterans on Clemson's campus. I asked Alex if he could come, he said maybe...BUT I bribed him by telling him if he comes I would make him brownies. As the saying goes, "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach" which is totally accurate! I made Alex an ENTIRE batch of brownies, he apparently didn't think I would actually make him that much. He ate three quarters of the batch that night!

We went on our first date near the end of the spring semester and saw "Batman vs Superman." This movie was so TERRIBLE but our date was so great. Despite the terrible movie it was an amazing first date, when you know, you know!

Over the next few years we learned a lot about one another and have grown together. We have supported each other through thick and thin. We worked and supported each other through bodybuilding competitions, and have learned to love one another immensely!

The years have been full of many football games (Go Tigers), lots of delicious food, and eating full sized Costco queso and a bag of chips in one sitting.

The Proposal

Alex and I talked about getting married for several months at this point in our relationship. Especially since we would be moving to Colorado Springs, CO since I was just stationed at Fort Carson. We had been shopping around for rings and tried some on at stores but we never found something we both loved. I went down to Clemson over Labor Day weekend for the first football game of the season. We went to the game and had an amazing time with all our friends and we got to celebrate the first win of the season.

I was super curious to know if I was gonna get proposed to. I just had a feeling that maybe something would happen, I was moving out to Colorado soon and we didn't know how often we would get to see each other.

We were walking around Clemson's campus Sunday morning taking in our beautiful campus where we met. There is a superstition at Clemson in Presidents Park, also know Lovers Lane, if you stroll through the park with your significant other there is an engagement ring in your future. In this park, in this gazebo, Alex got down on one knee as asked me to marry him (while he got down on one knee, I was also climbing on the gazebo). It completely took me by surprise, I fell off the gazebo and was speechless!

It was a very intimate proposal, just the two of us, which was just perfect. We didn't get any pictures of the actual proposal (which if you know us, and to my mother dismay, we never really take pictures, we prefer to just live in the moment).
