The National Museum of the Marine Corps

Picture of The National Museum of the Marine Corps
The National Museum of the Marine Corps is a lasting tribute to the commitment, accomplishments, and sacrifices of U.S. Marines. Situated on a 135-acre site adjacent to Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, and under the command of Marine Corps University, the Museum's soaring design evokes the images of the flag raisers of Iwo Jima and beckons visitors to this 240,000-square-foot structure. World-class interpretive exhibits with innovative technology and unique artifacts surround visitors and immerse them in the sights and sounds of Marines in action. The Museum is a public-private partnership between the U.S. Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. The Foundation was established in 1979 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization to support the historical programs of the Marine Corps in ways not possible through government funds. The Foundation supports the Museum's volunteer and educational programs.

Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail Neabsco Creek Boardwalk

Picture of Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail Neabsco Creek Boardwalk
15125 Blackburn Rd, Woodbridge, VA 22191

THE NEABSCO CREEK BOARDWALK is a ¾-mile boardwalk that traverses Neabsco Creek, allowing hikers access to wetlands where the tall grasses and marsh filter pollution from the river and provide a rich habitat for great blue herons, wood ducks, mallards, sparrow and red-winged blackbirds, just to name a few of the winged wildlife known to populate the area.

The walkway is part of the POTOMAC HERITAGE NATIONAL SCENIC TRAIL, which was established by Congress in 1983 designating an 800-mile trail network stretching from the Allegheny Mountains in Pennsylvania to the Potomac River, winding through Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia.

The boardwalk is part of NEABSCO REGIONAL PARK and showcases Woodbridges most valuable natural asset -- the Potomac waterfront – while linking historic landmarks such as Rippon Lodge and Leesylvania Park. The boardwalk is ADA compliant and encompasses educational sites that highlight information on native wildlife and plants.
