Some of the best hiking in the south is located near Lake Toxaway! Below are some of our favorite trails. Don't forget to keep an eye out for bears, make noise as you hike, and consider bringing bear spray with you. The Greystone Inn also offers guided hikes and can provide trail suggestions for guests. There are also options for horse back riding, white water rafting, and fly fishing in the area.
Schoolhouse Falls: Relatively easy 2 mile round trip hike to a nice waterfall and swimming pool
Whiteside: Moderately difficult 2.5 mile round trip hike to the top of Whiteside Mountain
Rainbow and Turtleback Falls at Gorges State Park: Moderately difficult 4 mile round trip hike descends to a 150 ft waterfall
Panthertown Wildnerness Area: There are tons of trails within Panthertown. Just be sure to bring a map - the area can be notoriously confusing and an easy place to get lost.
