What would I find if I looked up SPLAT in the dictionary?
The origin of SPLAT- Splat was the term that we used to describe how hard we were falling for each other. You’re falling so hard you forget to pull the parachute and you splat on the ground.
What makes Pizza, Pizza?
The origin of Pizza. Pizza is Paul’s nickname. He got this nickname when he moved to Utah in 2016. At work everyone called each other by their last name. Pizza wanted to be able to differentiate between work and social life so he told his friends to call him Pizza Paul when they weren’t at work. Eventually they stopped saying Pizza Paul and just said Pizza. “It’s too late for me to change my nickname when half of my friends don’t even know my real first name.” -Paul Matthew.
The Destination
What's a Moab?
Not to be mistaken for the Mother Of All Burritos, Moab is a small town 4.5 hours south of Salt Lake City, UT by car. It is nestled between Canyonlands National Park, Arches National Park, and the La Sal Mountain range.
Can I get there via teleportation?
Unfortunately, no. Moab is most easily accessible by car, but should you need alternative transportation, Redtail Air offers twice-weekly flights between SLC and Moab. Flights are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays, $150 one-way or $300 round-trip. Our wedding is on a Wednesday.
How do I get to the ceremony?
Our ceremony will be held cliff-side at Dead Horse Point State Park, at the West Bench Site near the south end of the park.
Please use site coordinates for navigation:
38°28'12"N 109°44'28"
From Moab, drive 9 miles (14.5 km) northwest of Moab on US 191 and then 23 miles (37 km) southwest on Utah 313. Drive time is roughly 45 min from central Moab (point of ref: Hoodoo Moab Hilton) to the parking lot for the ceremony site. There is a short walk along a paved trail to the site, followed by a few meters of uneven terrain to the overlook.
There will be park rangers at the entrance station, should you need further assistance.
We recommend carpooling as there is a $20 entrance fee per vehicle, up to 8 persons each.
Where's the afterparty, bro?
The afterparty, AKA reception, will be held in Spanish Valley at our private VRBO, which is located about 15 minutes south of the town of Moab. Drive time to the VRBO is roughly 55 minutes from the ceremony site.
Where should I stay?
We recommend booking accommodations in the town of Moab, so that you are based between the ceremony site and reception site, and have ease of access to civilized amenities. AirBnbs and VRBOs are available across the Moab and Spanish Valley area and provide a home away from home feel. If you would rather grab the Wild West by the horns, you can check out the glamping tents at Under Canvas Moab. Check out our "Where to Stay" page for our recommendations.
What should I wear?
Dress to impress! The event will be semi-formal. The ceremony site will be a bit uneven/rocky, so we recommend that you leave your stripper heels at home.
