Q + A

8000 FEET ELEVATION ALERT!

Buena Vista is HIGH!!! Tip #1 Drink LOTS of water! Start drinking more water than usual the day before you leave to help with dehydration. Carry water with you when out and about, especially if you go hiking. Tip #2 Take it slow at first, no strenuous activities on the first day. Tip #3 Consume alcohol wisely. At higher altitudes, it's easy to get really tipsy really fast- completely by accident. There are amazing breweries and distilleries in Buena Vista so manage wisely! Drink a glass of water for every alcoholic drink you consume. Tip #4 Lather up with Sunscreen! You are much closer to the sun, so no matter how cold it gets you will still get a sunburn. Wear a brimmed hat if you have one. Lastly- everyone adapts at a different rate. Fitness level doesn't correlate conclusively with faster or slower adaptions rates. Take your time and listen to your body.

WHAT TO PACK?

Temps vary drastically (could be hour to hour). The sun is very hot and yet there will still be snow in places, such as in the higher elevations. Bring your layers! Some recommendations include: - Hat - Sun glasses - Rain Jacket - Running shoes - Jacket - Sandals - Shorts - Whatever makes you feel comfortable for enjoying the outdoors and walking the town!
