My Chemical Romance - To the End

Chelsea and Alec’s story began in 2021 at Chloe’s ABC (anything but clothes) party. With Chelsea in a banana suit and Alec in a hammock, they were the perfect power couple in the making: The Banana Hammock. As the only two dancing in the basement, they bonded over a shared love of music from their youth, particularly My Chemical Romance and Flight of the Conchords.

The B52’s - Love Shack

Sparks flew between Chelsea and Alec at Charlotte’s Alice in Discoland Party. Chelsea could not resist Alec’s sultry fingergun dance during Love Shack. The two were seen canoodling in the mushroom forest hut soon thereafter.

Arctic Monkeys - Arabella

Chelsea and Alec took their first road trip to the Sawtooths to backpack the Alice Lake Loop. They spent the week sharing their love for exploring the wilderness, quiet mornings drinking French press coffee, and swaying in a hammock above an alpine lake (yes, same hammock). The drive home flew by as they took turns queuing up their favorite songs from bands like Arctic Monkeys, The Fratellis, and Ok Go.

David Bowie - Let’s Dance

Alec took Chelsea to Bike Prom where they danced the night away to David Bowie. The fingerguns made a reappearance.

Paramore - All I Wanted

Chelsea and Alec lived out their emo teen angst dreams at When We Were Young in Las Vegas. Chelsea’s quick thinking scored the gang tickets to day two of the festival after the disaster of Wind We Were Young on day one. They rocked out to MCR and Paramore and said their first, “I love you” while being serenaded by Paul (Paul! Paul! Paul!)

Brand New - Jaws Theme Swimming

Alec impressed Chelsea with his culinary skills, particularly his New England clam chowder they enjoyed while watching Jaws. Alec was impressed by Chelsea’s Brand New record collection, which they often listened to while sipping coffee in the morning. The Jaws theme permeated their Halloween costume and for Christmas Chelsea surprised Alec with a free dive with sharks on a trip to Hawaii.

Phantogram - Fall in Love

Chelsea and Alec fell deeper in love as they spent their time adventuring in the mountains by day, and swaying together as they watched their favorite bands play by night. Chelsea finally found someone to keep up with her and Alec's more accurate sense of time, direction, and distance came in handy in the backcountry.

Modest Mouse - Ocean Breathes Salty

Chelsea discovered Alec was up for any challenge when he survived a trip to Hawaii with her entire family which included shark diving, skinny dipping, Winslow Time, and a car burglary. Chelsea and Alec took the hiccups in stride and found that they made a great team.

Amigo the Devil - Hell and You

Chelsea and Alec spent the summer traveling off the beaten path in their truck camper hiking, mountain biking, and paddleboarding with Opal (who by now is Alec’s #1 fan). Alec’s family came to visit and they took his niece Christina to her first ever (and age appropriate) show Amigo the Devil. By the end of the week, Christina was asking them, “Do you guys ever chill?” The answer is still no.

Thrice - The Weight

Alec made a big career change by leaving Air Force active duty in maintenance and re-enlisting in Explosive Ordinance Disposal. Chasing this dream meant 10 months of long distance while he completed preliminary school in Texas and EOD tech school in Florida. Not only was the training physically and mentally challenging, the distance tested Chelsea and Alec’s communication, patience, and commitment to each other. Through the storms they found ways to stay connected knowing each struggle was worth the wait.

Manchester Orchestra - Telepath

Alec travelled home for the holidays and made a surprise proposal on New Year’s Eve as the clock struck midnight. Chelsea said 'yes' of course (she actually would’ve said 'yes' the very first night she met him). They celebrated with Beto’s burritos and Telepath came on the stereo as they drove home together hand in hand.

Defeater - I Don’t Mind

Chelsea and Alec have been spending their engagement texting through time zones and wildly different sleep schedules, having FaceTime dates, and savoring every visit when Chelsea can fly out to see Alec in Florida. They spend as much time as possible taking in the beautiful beaches and talking about their future together.

The Menzingers - After the Party

Chelsea and Alec can’t wait to spend the rest of their lives right where they started, dancing in the basement together long after the party is over. Thank you for joining us on this journey!
