Cody will tell you our relationship started with a lie...that is only half true. Let me explain.

How we met

In 2021, I was live-streaming on an app called MeetMe. I made a few friends during my live-streaming days and one of those friends was Anna. Anna lives in Hawaii however she is originally from Texas. On the MeetMe app she had her location set to Texas. While live-streaming with Anna I learned that Texas has the most beautiful men I had ever seen. So armed with the knowledge of how beautiful Texas mens are and the ability to change my location on the app, I changed my location on the app to Austin! Cody happen to be working in Austin around the time I decided to change my location and because of that, Cody ended up in my live-stream one night. The night we met online, we connected over our love of music. For the first week Cody thought I lived in Austin and when I told him that I was from the Bay Area. However he took that as I was from Bay City outside of Houston not the San Francisco Bay Area. I eventually got that cleared up. So did I lie? Maybe but it worked out!

"Dating"

After a month of daily texting, late night phone calls and a literal 24-hour facetime call I asked Cody what our status was, what were we? Cody said to me "I like you but I won't date someone I've never met in person." I knew very early on that Cody was different than any man I had met before and despite my attempts to not catch feelings for him, I caught the feelings. So a few days after he told me he wouldn't date someone he hadn't met in person, I bought a plane ticket to Dallas. Cody freaked out, my mom freaked out, my aunt Jennie freaked out but I knew I loved this man and I was gonna do what I had to do.

Our First Date

Cody picked me up from DFW at midnight and we went to a hotel where we stayed up until 7am playing bones (dominos) and drinking shots of Jameson with pickle juice. When we woke up later that afternoon, Cody drove me around Dallas, we had Cane Rosso for dinner (if you know, you know) and then he took me to Reunion Tower to watch the sunset. When we got back to the hotel that night Cody passed me a note asking me to be his girlfriend. Of course I said YES!! I was only in Dallas for approximately 30 hours before I had to board a plane and go home but I accomplished the mission! I got my Texas mans.

Long Distance

Cody and I did the long distance relationships thing for a year, taking turns flying between California and Texas. Long distance relationships are not easy and Cody and I had a few hiccups along the way but we made it work. In 2022, Cody made the decision to uproot his life and move to California to be with me. In February 2023, Cody made the drive from Texas to California to start our next chapter. That following July, on a sunset catamaran off the coast of Waikiki Beach in Hawaii Cody asked me to marry him!
