Our Wedding

The year was 2008, Cheyenne was invited to attend Wednesday night "Awana" at West Haysville Baptist Church (WHBC) by a friend they met in school. Kaden's family had a long history of attending WHBC and he also happened to be attending Awana that night. Kaden claims he saw a little girl with their nose stuck in a Harry Potter book and Cheyenne claims to have caught a glimpse of Justin Bieber - teen heartthrob.

How We Met 

Over the years, Kaden and Cheyenne remained close friends and confidants. During church hours, they were nearly inseparable. Often, Daniel (Kaden's dad) or Anita, would have to sit behind or between them so they would stop talking during sermon. During youth activities, they would often find ways to be near each other and at a youth retreat in 2013, they finally snuck their first kiss - in the middle of a game of Slander Man in the woods - how romantic. They would spend their last youth retreat together in 2015 holding hands on a jungle-gym, star gazing and beginning to realize how much they meant to each other regardless of where life was taking them... the interesting thing is, growing up they were always teased about their crushes on each other. Daniel and Justin (the youth leader and Daniel's best friend), would often tell them that they would get married one day.

Childhood Friends

Cheyenne left Kansas to pursue their education in Rhode Island in 2016, while Kaden finished his Senior year of high school. By this time they were both in relationships and pretty certain they were going to forever be "just friends". For several years they texted back forth, sharing music, memes, and advice. They would occasionally send each other Christmas gifts or during COVID, Cheyenne sent Kaden and his family a bunch of snacks to help pass the time in quarantine. At the beginning of 2021, Cheyenne finally told Kaden how they felt, but Kaden really fumbled the ball there and basically said "thank you and I love you too, but I'm just not ready for a relationship - still your best friend though"...

Just friends...

A few weeks later, Cheyenne had a dream about Kaden. Unsure how he would respond, she texted him anyway because it was a funny and story-worthy dream. They had been casually texting for years, but something about this time was different. They started exploring this relationship and began to talk on the phone and FaceTime every single day. In May of 2021, Cheyenne decided to fly back to Kansas and they made their relationship official on the 13th. After a year of long distance and lots of traveling back-and-forth, Kaden decided to move up to Rhode Island to be with Cheyenne.

More Than Friends

July 8th, 2023 was a magical one. Cheyenne started day by getting their nails done at the salon and came home to flowers and lunch from one of their favorite restaurants. Kaden and Cheyenne spent all day playing video games and enjoyed a romantic evening of coal fired pizza and Providence Water Fire (a breathtaking city event where they light basins on fire through the river that flows through Providence). Once they were back home, they were laying bed discussing their future engagement, when Kaden just got up, grabbed the ring, and proposed right there before Cheyenne could even get out of bed. It was intimate, but it suited them. The next time they looked at the clock, it was 11:11pm and through the happy crying, a clip from the office (superfan episode) came to the foreground:Michael Scott in an interview "smoking" cigar says, "there is no greater feeling than when two people are perfect for each other overcome all obstacles and find true love..." and then proceeds to get sick from the cigar.In that moment they knew Daniel was there celebrating them and basically said, "I told you so".

(We will be using Mx. &amp; Mr. prefix)3. Please respect this as a queer wedding. While Kaden is a cis-man, Cheyenne is non-binary and queer, this relationship is not heterosexual.4. It's okay to make mistakes! if you incorrectly gender someone - that's okay - accept the error and correction and keep moving forward!5. Please do not post pictures or stories using incorrect language.

When considering a place to stay...

We are staying in Glenwood Springs, CO about 50 miles outside of Aspen, CO and ~1 hour away from the ceremony site. Please keep in mind that the reception will be held in Glenwood Springs, at the cabin. We encourage our guests to book a place that suits their timeline and needs whether it be a hotel, Air BnB, or private rental. You are more than welcome to book closer to the ceremony site if you desire (see Travel FAQ).

Travel FAQ

Wedding Day Transportation

We are will have two 12 -passenger vans (operated by our amazing family members) that will take guests to and from the ceremony site. We recommend renting a car for general travel during your stay if you decide to fly in.

Passenger pick-up for the ceremony will be located at "The Inn at Aspen" - the hotel where the wedding party will be getting ready. Please arrive for pick-up between 3:30-4pm!! The wedding ceremony starts promptly at 4:30pm!! You'll see Jim (Frickey) and Josh in the parking lot :)

There are no shuttle/transportation provided by the couple for the reception. The reception site (our cabin), is ~1 hour away, so please plan accordingly.
