Our story together begins where most love stories do...in our high school Spanish class long ago in 2013. Cheyenne was a freshman and Tony was a sophomore when they both walked into SeƱora Corkery's classroom for their first day of Spanish 1. Cheyenne remembers seeing Tony walk into class with his friends (she only remembers because they were late, and she remembers this because they were ALWAYS late), probably laughing at something really dumb. Tony remembers how shy and quiet Cheyenne was. As they worked through Spanish 1 homework and OPA's together occasionally, they got to know each other a little bit. Eventually, Tony worked up the nerve to ask her to Winterball that January. Unfortunately, Cheyenne thought he was joking and laughed and walked away. Cheyenne thought "there's NO WAY Tony Rex would seriously want to go to Winterball with ME". Tony still holds this against her to this day.
About a year goes by, Cheyenne is now a sophomore, Tony a junior. They have formed a friendship and would Snapchat and text on occasion, Tony usually initiating by pretending to need help with Spanish homework (he is WAY better at Spanish than Cheyenne). In March of 2015, for some reason, Tony thought he would try asking Cheyenne to a school dance again, despite his failed first attempt. This time though he asked her to the Prom, and fortunately she said yes. They had an amazing time but remained friends, to Tony's dismay...
It wasn't until the Fall of 2015 when Tony's efforts finally began to payoff, after an entire summer of Tony swooning and making his best efforts to get Cheyenne to hangout with him. Tony is a senior now and Cheyenne is a junior, and she finally gave in to his charms and corny jokes, and agreed to hangout with Tony after one of his away football games (or maybe she suggested it, jury is still out on that). They spent the whole night talking, laughing, and watching American Horror Story: Hotel. After this, Cheyenne and Tony spent a lot of time together talking (countless curfews were broken by sitting in the driveway talking, Cheyenne still thinks it shouldn't count as breaking curfew because she was technically home), watching movies, listening to music, and supporting each other in their respective sports. Then finally, on November 21, 2015, Tony decided while they were laying on the couch in his basement watching a movie, he would ask Cheyenne to be his girlfriend. To which Cheyenne responded, "are you sure?" and he said "yes".
This seemingly insignificant moment in high school, turned into one of the greatest decisions either of them would make in their lives. They have had the opportunity to live so many versions of life together in the over 8 years they've been dating. Something they are both most grateful for is the opportunity they have had to watch each other achieve and grow so much in these various stages of life. From high school, to college, to first careers, to living together, to graduate school, their hearts have continued to find comfort and safety in each other. It was never a question Cheyenne and Tony would get married to each other, they have dreamt of being married and living life together since they were 17 years old. So when Tony asked Cheyenne to marry her in November of 2023, she undoubtedly and without hesitancy, said yes.
