First Impressions

Chris and Sangeun first met via online dating and had some "interesting" initial impressions from their photos. Chris, being somewhat allergic to dogs, was apprehensive when noting a large golden retriever next to Sangeun. Meanwhile, Sangeun was left questioning both Chris' eating lifestyle and hobbies seeing a photo of him in an Avatar Last Airbender shirt in front of an enormous portion of food. It wasn't until later they both discovered neither Sangeun is a dog owner (it was her cousin's) nor did Chris ever watch the Avatar (it was a discounted shirt that looked cool).

Nevertheless, Chris asked Sangeun out and they agreed to a first date on a picnic at Goodale Park on May 2, 2023. Through the evening, they quickly found a strong connection through their faith and sharing life stories. After continuing to meet for several weeks and doing many activities together, Chris officially asked Sangeun to be in a relationship which she said yes!

The PhD Life

Although only Sangeun is formally an enrolled PhD candidate, both Chris and her furthered their education in one another learning much about each other's different culture and background. Chris learned how to make many traditional Korean dishes, celebrated Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving), watched the Nutcracker for the first time, and completed his first 1000 piece puzzle. Sangeun built her first Lego set and witnessed the craze of American football through watching Chris' favorite teams (Ohio state and Philadelphia Eagles) win the National Championship and Super Bowl in 2024. They both grew over quality time hiking at parks, working out, cooking fusion dishes, and attending church together all while balancing through Sangeun's hectic PhD life.

Columbus to Korea 

Although Chris had met Sangeun's family once when they visited the US, he had made it a goal to vist Sangeun's home country of South Korea and see her family there. In Spring 2025 this opportunity came to fruition as he embarked on an Asia trip visiting his family's homeland of Taiwan and stopping by South Korea. The two enjoyed amazing food, visited numerous cultural destinations and witnessed the spring cherry blossoms. During the vacation, Chris was able to also conduct some "business" which included obtaining Sangeun's father's contact information so that he could keep in touch about a bigger decision to come...

Picturesque Proposal

With Sangeun's final year in school starting in August, Chris wanted a memorable end to the summer for her. He planned a trip full of nature and scenery at Pictured Rocks Upper Michigan. Chris had first come to this place back in 2017 while backpacking with friends and was left awestruck by the beauty of the place. He also wanted to share that with Sangeun and navigated her through a 8 mile hike full of sand dunes and trails before ending at the beaches of Lake Superior that evening. As God provided a beautiful sunset there, Chris asked the big question proposing to Sangeun which she happily said Yes!

Registry

1. When and how should I RSVP?

Please RSVP by March 31, 2026. Please direct yourself to the RSVP page of the website where you can enter in your full (First - Last) name. You will also be able to see any guests and family members.

2. What time can guests begin arriving?

Guests may begin arriving by 3:30-3:45PM and make their way over to the outdoor ceremony lawn. There will be signs leading to the location.

3. Where and What is the venue?

Wedgewood Golf and Country Club is located in Powell at 9600 Wedgewood Blvd, Powell, OH 43065, roughly 30 minutes away from the Columbus airport. Both the ceremony and reception will be held here. The ceremony is planned to be held outdoors (weather permitting), and the reception will be indoors.

4. How is parking at the venue?

Parking is free at the country club! There should be plenty of available spots.

5. What is the dress code?

Semi-formal is our preferred; however, feel free to wear whatever is comfortable.

6. What are the dinner menu options?

On the RSVP, all guests will have the opportunity to select one of three plated entrees along with list any dietary restrictions: 1) Pan Seared Atlantic Salmon(Coconut basmati, bok choy, roasted poblano &amp; mango relish with a lime butter sauce) 2) Filet Mignon(8oz. angus filet, whipped potatoes, seasonal vegetable melange, red wine sauce) 3) Braised Short Rib(Roasted fingerling potatoes, cauliflower, red wine demi glace) In addition, we offer several alternate choices: Vegetarian Signature Pasta(Penne pasta, mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, spinach, pine nuts, garlic, parmesan cheese, vodka cream sauce) Children's:Chicken Tenders &amp; French Fries w/applesauce(Crispy fried chicken tenders &amp; a side of ketchup)

7. Where are convenient places to stay?

The wedding venue is located Northwest of Columbus conveniently close to the Dublin, Olentangy, and Powell suburbs. Bridge Park Dublin is located 10 minutes away and has many restaurants, hotels, and shops. Polaris Mall is located 15 minutes away and also has many restaurants, hotels, and shops.

8. Can we bring any additional guests (plus ones or young children)?

Due to our planned capacity, we’ll be clearly identifying all guests in the RSVP invitation. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us directly. Thank you so much for your understanding!
