Travel to Hornby

Hornby is a small Island located within the Northern Gulf Islands in the Salish Sea. It can be a bit of an adventure to arrive in Hornby, but we promise all the travel is worth it!

How do I get to Hornby Island?

You need to take two small/short ferries from Buckley Bay, located just outside of Comox, BC.


How do I get to Buckley Bay?

1. Fly into Comox, BC airport, rent a car, drive to Buckley Bay (about 30 minutes from the airport).

2. Fly into Nanaimo, BC airport, rent a car, drive to Buckley Bay (about 1 hour from the airport).

3. Fly to Victoria, BC airport, rent a car, drive to Buckley Bay (about 3 hours from airport).

4. Driving from the mainland- take BC ferries from the Vancouver area, Horseshoe Bay or Tsawwassen to Nanaimo, drive to Buckley Bay.

5. Fly into Vancouver, rent car, take BC ferries from Horseshoe Bay or Tsawwassen to Nanaimo, drive to Buckley Bay.


Travel on Hornby:

- We recommend having a vehicle on Hornby or biking is possible around the island.

- Carpooling is highly recommended!


You cannot book the ferries from Buckley Bay, it is first come first serve, although the ferries do run on a schedule.


You can book your ferries from Vancouver area to Nanaimo.
