Venue

Union Station

Opened in 1914, the 850,000 sq ft Union Station served as a central hub for the country for more than 600,000 rail passengers annually at its peak. Union Station served as a central point for soldier movements through both world wars, and even hosted the Allied Commanders for the groundbreaking ceremony for the National World War I museum located directly south of the station. The station was reopened in 1999 as part of a $250M renovation to its current glory.

For Brandon growing up in Kansas City, Union Station has served as an iconic part of the city's architecture hosting numerous parades and events. From Christine's first visit to Kansas City she fell in love with the Beaux-Arts style of the building and 95 ft tall ornate ceilings. When it came time to decide on a venue for the wedding, it was the first and only choice.

The ceremony will be held in the Jarvis Hunt Room located in the northwest corner of the Grand Hall. The room features the original marble floors and marble wainscoting from 1914. Initially serving as the men's lounge and smoking area, it was renamed after the original architect Jarvis Hunt after the reopening in 1999.

Freight House

Built in 1887, the 20,000 sq ft Freight House served as the main cargo hub for the area. The structure was in disrepair until it was revitalized in 1995. The building now hosts three award winning restaurants: Lidia's Kansas City (reception), Jack Stack Barbeque (rehearsal dinner), and Grunauer.

The Freight House is accessible from Union Station via the Freight House Pedestrian Bridge, a repurposed 1892 unused railroad span.
