The Bessborough Hotel itself is often a tourist attraction for those visiting Saskatoon. Built as one of Canada's Grand Railway Hotels for the Canadian National Railway. Resembling that of a castle, the Bessborough Hotel was designed by John S. Archibald as a Châteauesque-style building. If you are a fan of the Royal Family, like Christine is, you will be excited to know that when the Queen visits Saskatoon she stays at the Bessborough Hotel. The hotel was built during the Great Depression of the 1930's. The hotel was named after the 14th Governor General of Canada, Sir Vere Ponsonby, who was the 9th Earl of Bessborough. It is also one of the anchors of Saskatoon's City Beautiful Movement Streets, 21st East. For anyone who is a fan of ghosts, the hotel is also rumoured to be haunted, but we have it under good authority that they are nice ghosts, like Casper.
