Tamarindo has so much to offer! You don't need to leave town to experience many of the activities listed below. You can absolutely keep busy during the long weekend while staying close to town. For those of you who want to explore more of Guanacaste and see what Costa Rica has to offer, you may need to drive 1-1.5 hours or join a tour group. The below activities are a combination of activities in town and those within a nearby radius.

For large group reservations, our wedding planner can help book you with her recommended touring company. Please let us know if there's any support you need since we all know Christine's true calling is as a travel agent.

Beach

Your job can also be beach during this trip! The wedding party will be staying near Playa Langosta and the main beach in Tamarindo is wide and spacious. If you're open to a bit of a drive, ranked one of Costa Rica's most beautiful beaches, is Playa Conchal. Located 40 minutes away near town of Brasilito, it has clear water and a beach made of crushed seashells.

Learn to Surf

Known widely as one of the best places in the world to surf, Costa Rica has waves for everyone. The water is warm, hovering around 77–86°F (25–30°C), and the waves are consistent. Costa Rica is also home to Central America’s only World Surfing Reserve, which protects outstanding surf zones and their environments, located in Playa Hermosa. The best towns for surfing are Tamarindo, Nosara, and Santa Teresa, each with their own surf schools and camps, with options no matter your budget or skill level.

Scuba Dive

Whether you want to become a PADI-certified diver or try it out for the first time you can do either of those right in Tamarindo. Skilled divers can journey out to the Catalina area where you will see a large variety of marine life and experience this underwater paradise alongside professionals.

ATV

Explore Tamarindo and the surrounding beaches and dry forest on an off-road ATV tour where you will experience river crossings, mountain views, and stunning tropical scenery. Take in the sights and sounds of the Costa Rican forest and watch for birds and monkeys as you steer beneath coastal trees.

River Rafting & Tubing

If you're looking for some additional adrenaline, book a day trip into the Guanacaste mountains where you can whitewater raft down the Tenorio River and experience Class III and IV rapids.

Zipline & Adventure Parks

Costa Rica is the birthplace of recreational ziplining when in 1995, Canadian entrepreneur Darren Hreniuk built a course in Monteverde, Costa Rica, which is known as the “Original Canopy Tour” and is still in operation today. A quarter-century later, Costa Rica still manages to be a leader in ziplining, sending adrenaline junkies flying through forests at nearly 600 feet in the air and at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour.

Horseback Riding

If you're looking to slow down and enjoy the beauty around you, horseback riding tours are available with special sunset and sunrise rides. They will allow you to explore the beauty of the forest and white-capped waves along the coast of Tamarindo beach while horseback riding.

Deep Sea & Sports Fishing

Tamarindo is closely located near some of the most productive fishing grounds in the World. Depending on the time of year, Billfish and other pelagic species can be found as close as 3 miles out from Tamarindo, Costa Rica. During our windier months runs average a modest 15 miles to slick calm seas!

Spa & Yoga Centers

There are several spas and yoga centers in town. Whether you're looking for yoga in a serene location or a spa experience, you won't have to look far to find the perfect place.

Bike Tours

Take a day trip out of town and explore the natural beauty of Costa Rica on a bike!

Sailing Tours

Whether you're looking for a catamaran or sailboat, there are plenty of options in Tamarindo to enjoy snorkeling off the coast, taking in a sunset sail, or just feeling the wind in your hair. Our sunset sail in Costa Rica in 2022 was our favorite experience!

For tours, our wedding planning recommends the Marlin del Ray.
