Our Wedding

Chris and Kelsey met on October 2, 2020. They were next door neighbors. That night, Chris was throwing a loud party and Kelsey's friend and future bridesmaid Kat went up to Chris' front door because she naturally wanted to join in on the fun. Kat knocked on the front door multiple times, but no one answered, so she went back to Kelsey's apartment. Later that night, everyone started to leave Chris' apartment to go out to the local bars. Kat heard everyone leaving and came outside to the hallway with Kelsey and asked if she and Kelsey could join up with the group to go out. Upon Chris seeing Kelsey for the first time, his answer to Kat's question was "Absolutely, Yes!" Since that time, Chris and Kelsey's love story has continued to intensify and grow. They are now the proud parents to two sweet cats.

This Airbnb apartment was our personal favorite stay during our August 2023 trip. One of the best ways to experience Maui in all its glory is to stay at an Airbnb. Airbnb has plenty of incredible and unique options, ranging from gorgeous villas, cool apartments, to retro campervans and the island’s Airbnb's can be found all over its valleys, beaches, and population centers like Wailuku, Kihei and Kula. The cool apartment we stayed at was in Kihei and here are some of the things we noticed. Pros:1. Price2. Distance to Beach/ wedding venue3. Beach furniture included4. Free parking Cons:1. Airbnb Condo in Kihei

We stayed here during our May 2024 trip! This hotel is situated right next to the ocean and public beach. They offer a wide range of activities, amenities, restaurants, pools and even a cave bar. This hotel also boasts the largest and most expensive collection of Hawaiian Art in all of the State of Hawaii. This is also where they filmed one of Chris' favorite comedy movies "Just Go With It," starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. We took their free beach yoga classes in the morning, went to the restaurants, and spent the afternoons relaxed in their lazy river and pools. While this hotel has a lot of things to do, it is definitely more on the expensive side. If value hotels are more your style but you still want to check out some of the nicer resorts, check out resort pass as it allows you to use their amenities without spending $$$ on a room. Pros:1. Luxury experience2. Direct access to polo beach3. Largest/Best Pools in Maui4. Part of Hilton Hotels Cons:1. Expensive (average room is $800-1100 per night)2. Parking is $55 to $65 per night at hotel, but can park for free nearby

Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort

We stayed here during part of our May 2024 trip! While this is technically a timeshare hotel, you are able to book individual hotel rooms for your vacation. This hotel ended up being a great deal as it only amounted to $300 a night including taxes and fees! Pros:1. Price2. Large 1 bedroom fully stocked apartments (800-1000 square feet)3. Solid amenities like putput golf/standard pool4. Free parking and within walking distance to some restaurants/food trucks5. Easy drive to wedding venue and the northern part of the island Cons:1. Lack of restaurant availability in direct area

Hilton Vacation Club Ka'anapali Beach Maui

This was a hotel we stayed at during part of our August 2023 Trip. We were very excited to stay here based on previous reviews and pictures but ended up having a few experiences that put a sour taste in our mouth. They would not honor Chris military rate for our stay. The representative we worked with was very unhelpful during this process which made the beginning of our stay kick off to a poor start. Our AC also went out in the middle of the night and room service wasnt answering. We were in the building furthest away from the Lobby so Chris ended up walking 15 minutes to explain to them the issue we were having. Instead of moving us to a new room right away, they told us we needed to wait for maintenance to arrive to see what the issue was. Another hour and a half later of maintenance working on the system, they informed us it could not be fixed and we would have to go back up to the front desk and request a new room. The hotel is located on the Wailea board walk, which makes it very easy to get around the hotel campus along with walking to other hotels/restaurants/Wailea shoppes. Pros: 1. Direct access to Ocean and board walk. 2. Beautiful &amp; spacious hotel rooms with views of the water and nearby island of Lanai. 3. Many activities &amp; pools (including two adults only pools) Cons: 1. You need to book any activities well ahead of time. We tried to book a few activities a month before our stay and everything was sold out. 2. It is a fairly large campus so if you have trouble walking, this may not be the best hotel for you. 3. Many amenities are not free and the hotel included a few hidden fees we were not expecting. 4. Standard rooms are expensive, $700-$1100 per night. 5. Parking is $55 to $65 per night and no free parking nearby.

Below are some of our recommendations of activities and tours to check out while you are on the Island of Maui. We have personally done all of these and had a blast! However, there are so many other things to do and see while in Maui, these are just some highlights that we think our guests will enjoy. Likewise, we watch a ton of videos about Maui on a YouTube channel called The Hawaiian Vacation Guide, which is a great resource.

Our Experiences

Maui is known for having some of the best beaches in the world. Some beaches like Ka'anapali Beach and Napili Beach have even won the crown for best beach in the world in years past. All beaches in Hawaii are free and for public use, so bring the sunscreen and enjoy. The Hawaiian Vacation Guide is a wonderful Youtube channel and resource that delves into so many topics on Maui. Day at the Beach

The largest craft brewery in Hawaii. Tour the production facility and/or enjoy one of the many locally crafted soda, beer, seltzer, and locally sourced food options available. Tours are only offered at the Kihei location. There are also two other locations on Maui, in Ka'anapali and Kahana. Chris keeps our fridge stocked with Bikini Blonde Lager year-round.

Maui Bees Farm

Hawaii is the only U.S. state that is able to grow chocolate due to it's tropical climate. We loved the organic chocolate farm tasting tour here and they offer military discount. Mt. Ku'ia is the only chocolate farm on the island and grows some of the world's best cacao and award-winning chocolate, as evidenced by the national and international recognition they have received. Chris' personal favorite is the Calamansi Dark Chocolate which mixes cacao with locally grown Calamansi.

The sunset dinner cruise with live music and open bar is our favorite activity to do on Maui. There's just something about being out on the open water with your soul mate and the ocean breeze that makes you feel alive. Amazing value and worth every penny.

The Island of Maui offers some of the&nbsp;best golf courses on the globe. A few of them even host events for major tournaments, including the prestigious&nbsp;PGA TOUR. Many visitors to Hawaii seek out Maui for their&nbsp;ultimate golf getaway. When it comes to choosing the perfect place for a leisurely vacation, Maui is well-known for gorgeous weather all year round and remarkable views at every turn. The topography of the island provides the perfect canvas for some exceptional and&nbsp;unique Maui golf courses&nbsp;that will challenge those of various skill levels. The Road to Hana is a stretch of the Hana Highway (HI-360) that connects the town of Hana in East Maui with Kahului in central Maui. The 52 mile drive is relatively short distance, but isn’t an easy road to navigate. With 620 curves and 59 bridges winding you through the rugged rainforest landscape of East Maui, the drive is an experience. The resorts and crowded beaches of West and South Maui&nbsp;have been replaced by waterfalls, cliffs, and dramatic ocean views.&nbsp;Although this all-day adventure tops the list for most visitors’ bucket list, there is a lot to know before you set out on your journey. Overcrowding, parking challenges, and private property make this a tricky day out if you’re not prepared.

Road to Hana

Unreal views of the island of Maui. We had a business meeting here with the owner of the bartending company that is catering our wedding and were absolutely blown away. Words cannot express how beautiful the perspective is from this organic farm. We also had an excellent lunch with drinks, and they of course offer tours. We'll be providing organic vodka from the farm at the open bar during our wedding.

Kula Lodge offers accommodation and is a top-rated restaurant located in Upcountry Maui. We had lunch at the restaurant and purchased many souvenirs from the large marketplace located next door.
