Depending on your level of fitness and available time, check out these hikes in the area. Please note that some do require transportation out of town to get to the start of the trail.

*Mt Marathon/Skyline/Jeep Trail/The Bowl (medium to difficult depending on the route, can start directly from town. avoid on 7.4.24 as the race is 7a-3p)

*Two Lakes Trail - 1 mile very well marked and very straightforward to navigate. This trail is great for a nice walk in the woods as it is located very close to town (no need for a car) and is a short, easy loop that is still scenic as it winds through the trees. The trail loops around the two lakes located in the park and makes for a very relaxing outdoor trip

*Lost Lakes - 7 miles in and back to the Lake (easy to medium route through forest and side open fields) must have a car to get to the start of trailhead, gorgeous views of waterfalls, fields, and mountains. Still gorgeous view even 2-4 miles in!

*Tonsina - trailhead starts out in Lowell point so will need a car to get there if you are staying in downtown Seward. (easy to medium hike) great hike for rainy days as it's mostly covered in forest and crosses bridge/river. Explore this 3.4-mile out-and-back trail near Seward, Alaska. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 45 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, snowshoeing, and walking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash. This one is offered by Sunny Cove Kayaking with a tour/lunch.

*Exit Glacier - Explore this 2.2-mile loop trail near Seward, Alaska. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 57 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are May through October. You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail.

*Harding Ice Field - Enjoy this 8.6-mile out-and-back trail near Seward, Alaska. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 5 h 51 min to complete. This is a very popular area for backpacking, birding, and hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are May through October. You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail.
