Pittsburgh is located in western Pennsylvania at the junction of "Three Rivers." The three rivers that meet in downtown Pittsburgh are the Allegheny, the Monongahela, and the Ohio (which starts at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers). It has a rich history as an early 20th-century industrial capital. Known as the "Steel City" for its dominant role in the history of the U.S. Steel industry, Andrew Carnegie emigrated here in 1848.

In the North Shore neighborhood, explore the modern Andy Warhol Museum, Heinz Field football stadium and PNC Park baseball stadium - not to mention Alexander's downtown apartment!
Museums abound from the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Carnegie Museum of Art, Carnegie Science Center, Senator John Heinz History Center (whose director is a friend/neighbor and will be in attendance)...and so many more.
For shoppers, the Ross Park Mall is home to Nordstroms and many other stores at all price points. Outlet shoppers might enjoy Grove City Outlets (approx. one hour away). The Strip District is lined with converted warehouses and contains a mix of old-style grocers and gourmet food shops, street stands selling produce and t-shirts, plus restaurants offering a wide variety of foods. And a short 20 minute drive from our house is the Waterworks Mall which contains HomeGoods, Marshalls, and TJMaxx.
