We hope you take the time to explore Door County and discover why it's special to us. Door County is a peninsula surrounded by Lake Michigan and is often called the Cape Cod of the Midwest. The village of Ephraim is home to us, but the surrounding villages are just as charming.
Ephraim is a quieter village but has a few of our favorite places. It offers Anderson Dock (Colby proposed to Megan here), Wilson’s Ice Cream Parlor, walks along the shorefront to watch the sunset, and the Red Putter for a game of putt-putt.
To the south, between Ephraim and Fish Creek, is Peninsula State Park. Here, there are two golf courses: the regular and the short courses. The short course is six holes, a favorite for Megan and Colby, where only wedges are needed. The rest of the park has great views from Eagle Tower, Eagle Panorama, Sven’s Bluff, and Eagle Bluff Lighthouse.
The north of Ephraim is Sister Bay. Sister Bay is known for Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant, which has goats on the roof. Megan and Colby can be found next door at Stabbur Beer Garden. It’s a great place to grab a drink any time of the day. Megan and Colby enjoy the live music at Husby’s just down the street at night. We take in the Wisconsin tradition of having fish fry on Friday nights at the local supper club, Sister Bay Bowl. A fish fry is always enjoyed with the Wisconsin drink, Brandy Old Fashioned. Colby is always on a mission to find the best deep-fried cheese curds.
For a view of the peninsula from the water, consider taking a boat tour out of Fish Creek or Sister Bay. Small boat rentals are available in Ephraim and Sister Bay.
The other villages, Fish Creek, Egg Harbor, Ellison Bay, Baileys Harbor, and Sturgeon Bay, offer more to explore.
