Travel Suggestions

We are going to do everything possible to make this a super simple international trip for all who plan to attend! Please call, email, text us if you have any questions at all. Here are a few details below that will hopefully make your travels easier.

Flying to Florence:

- Cheapest option: Fly to Rome Fiumicino Airport - Leonardo da Vinci Airport, then take ~1 Hour TrenItalia to Florence. We recommend 1-2 nights in Rome if time allows!

- Most Direct Option: Fly directly to Amerigo Vespucci Airport Florence Airport. This option will be more $$$. I recommend flying to Rome and taking the train if you don't mind.

Lodging:

We will NOT have a hotel block - apologies for any inconvenience. Florence is a small, walkable city and you could stay just about anywhere in the city of Florence and it would be the perfect location. We typically stay in an Airbnb in Florence because they are beautiful and a bit cheaper most of the time. There are also many great hotels, too!

Here are a few neighborhoods we recommend, but again, you can't really go wrong. Please feel free to text us the airbnb / hotel you're thinking of and we can let you know if the neighborhood looks like a good, central spot!

Where to stay in Florence:

Santo Spirito: Great neighborhood

Centro Storico: The historic center, but might be more expensive

Santa Croce: cool, up and coming neighborhood

Sant’Ambrogio: Cool, young neighborhood home to one of my favorite local markets

Oltrarno: Florence's Artisan corner, other side of the river. We stayed here recently and loved it. A bit more walking, but great spot.

A few cool travel experiences we recommend:

- My favorite cooking class and they'll pick you up in a cab right in Florence: HERE

- Famous vespa tour through Rome: HERE - fyi she books up fast! Book early.

- Any airbnb experience - read the reviews, but this is how we have found some of the best boat tours, cooking classes, walking tours, and more! Just look on Airbnb, but switch it for experiences.

FYI - for the day of the wedding we will provide shuttles that pick up somewhere in the city centre of Florence. It will be a 25 minute drive to the wedding villa. In our opinion, there is no need to rent a car for Florence, you can walk everywhere!

Traveling after Florence?

Here are a few of our favorite places to visit:

- Rome

- Anywhere in Tuscany such as Montelpulciano (wine + oils), Parma (cheese, obviously!), Lucca, Piensa, Chianti and more!

- Cinque Terre - You can do a train day trip from Florence

- Sorrento - A day trip to Capri for sure! Do a boat here!

- Positano - Haven't been, but on our list!

- Lake Como - again, haven't been but only heard wonderful things!

- Sicily is further, but we've heard amazing things! Recommended: Taormina, Hiking Mt. Etna, and more!
