You can RSVP online on this website or by mail by Sept 13, 2024
Have you reserved a hotel block?
Yes, there is a hotel block at The Graduate Hotel in Richmond. See the "Travel" page on this website for more information.
Is there parking at the Cathedral?
Yes, the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart is located directly on Virginia Commonwealth University's campus. There is limited street parking surrounding the church and also a convenient parking deck on 801 West Main St (VCU West Main St Parking Deck) that we highly suggest using to avoid street parking stress. It is a short walk from the Cathedral, at an hourly rate.

Is there parking at the reception venue (Hanover Tavern)?
Yes! There is a large parking lot at Hanover Tavern, and if it is full there is overflow parking across the street at the Hanover Courthouse.
How should I plan to get from the ceremony to the reception?
It is a 25 minute drive (through beautiful autumnal Virginia!) from the Cathedral to Hanover Tavern. We suggest setting up a carpool group or booking an Uber ahead of time.
**If you are part of the wedding party (bridesmaids or groomsmen) there will be a trolley to take you to Hanover Tavern but there will NOT be a organized shuttle back into Richmond. If you need help arranging a carpool, reach out to Colleen.
Is there a dress code?
Please dress in semi formal attire. While Catholic weddings do not have strict dress codes, we ask that you be respectful of the sacred Mass at the historic Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. And remember, there's a LOT of "sit, stand, kneel" at Catholic Masses!
Can I take photos at your wedding ceremony?
No, we ask all our guests to "unplug" by turning off your cell phones during the sacred nuptial Mass. Our excellent photographer, Heather, will share professional photos of the ceremony in the weeks after the wedding. Thank you in advance for your love and consideration.
Seems that there's a gap between the ceremony and reception, is there?
Not really, Catholic Masses take a minimum of one hour and we are leaving time for everyone to drive safely to Hanover Tavern, which is about 25 minutes away.
What time will the wedding reception end? Is there an after party?
Our reception in the Coach House will end about 5:30pm. However, Hanover Tavern is a restaurant as well as a wedding venue, so we invite everyone to take their time sobering up in the public tavern area before driving back to the city. There is no "official" after party, but check out our "Things to Do" tab on this website for some of our favorite bars and places to keep the party going!
