Philly has tons to do ! Here are some ideas and areas to explore:

Old City Area :

See where it all began at Independence National Park.

-You can book tours through Independence Hall and see the Liberty Bell. You can also walk around that general area to find Betsy Ross's House and a few other historic gems.

check out of this Franklin Square park while you’re there.

Rittenhouse Square Park:

The leafy center of the city's most exclusive neighborhood. In this park named for astronomer David Rittenhouse — and planned by William Penn himself — there are several noteworthy sculptures, including the allegorical Lion Crushing a Serpent and the more whimsical Duck Girl.

Good photo ops:

-Philadelphia's Magic Gardens is an explosion of creativity, an indoor/outdoor museum of mosaics created by artist Isaiah Zagar .After taking it all in, explore South Street's eclectic mix of galleries, cafes and indie shops.

-Love Park, where Robert Indiana's iconic LOVE statue is.

-Run up the Rocky Steps! check out the Philadelphia Art Museum, too while you’re there!

Other locations:

Explore America's oldest farmer's market, the Reading Terminal Market. Here you can find everything from fresh produce and Amish baked goods to ice cream and cuisine from nearly every ethnicity imaginable (come hungry!).

Colleens favorite museum is the Philadelphia's science museum, the Franklin Institute. You can walk through a replica of the human heart and their newest exhibit explores the human brain. The museum also includes a planetarium and an IMAX movie theater.

Pay homage to colleen and ians careers in medicine by visiting the Mutter museum , a medical history and science museum in center city with anatomical and pathological specimens and antique medical equipment.

If there are kids with you, we recommend the https://www.pleasetouchmuseum.org - fantastic children’s museum, or the Philadelphia Zoo, America's first zoo!

Northern Liberties/Fish-town:

Hip young area with tons of breweries- you can brewery hop here if you so desire:

-Yards Brewing

-Source Urban Brewing

-Human Robot

-Brewery ARS

-Urban Village

-Evil Genius’ The Lab

-Philadelphia Brewing Company

-Fermentery Form

Some other bars:

-McGillin's Olde Ale House - Oldest continuously operating bar in Philadelphia (150 years old!).

-Barcade - Just as it sounds - a bar with arcade games. Super fun!

-Victory Brewing Company -great brewery with rooftop!

Philly has an amazing food scene- here are some of our recommendations:

-WAWA! go get a hoagie (aka a sub or sandwich for you non philadelphians) There's a ton of Wawa stores around the area.

-You also have to get a Philly cheesesteak while you're here. Colleens favorite is from Jim's Steaks on South Street, but most other places in the city also are great.

-The Continental - A Stephen Starr treat, with locations in Center City and Old City. Interesting martini menu.

-https://elvezrestaurant.com - El Vez is another Stephen Starr restaurant but mexican. Great guacamole and margaritas! (center city)

-https://www.zahavrestaurant.com - won best restaurant in America (James Beard Award 2019). Recommend getting a reservation far in advance. (Old city. )

-Khyber Pass Pub - Southern cuisine. Excellent beer list. ( Old city).

-LaViola - Excellent Italian BYO in one of the prettiest spots in the city. Prices are very reasonable.(near Rittenhouse square)

--https://parc-restaurant.com -famous french restaurant on Rittenhouse- great for brunch, a bit pricey.

-Mixto - Cuban/Caribbean/Latin American cuisine with a plethora of delicious mojito options to choose from(near philadelphias magic gardens).
