Wedding Party

Connie

The Bride

Connie, 27 going on 28 years old. She is a former city girl having grown up in London, and now converted seaside girl living in Kent (or as Sam would like to call her, a DFL - down from Londoner *rolls eyes*). Connie has an extremely sweet tooth, previously being known for having a chocolate bar for breakfast, or even a couple of teaspoons of sugar before heading to primary school (thanks gran!). From a young age Connie loved performing and would regularly pin her parents down and get them to endure song upon song whilst she pranced around the room.

Now all grown up, Connie enjoys the finer things in life: cocktails, Gossip Girl and coming home each day to cuddles from Ralph (and Sam of course). A lover of adventure and spontaneity, Connie is the crazier of the two, often having to be reined in by Sam.

Strength: Can drink most guests under the table. Shots or a Pornstar Martini anyone?

Weakness: At no point allow Connie to have a microphone in her hand - she’s loud enough as she is, and to make matters worse is tone deaf!

Sam

The Groom

Sam, 31 years old, sausage roll and Mini Egg enthusiast. Growing up there wasn't a sport Sam didn't have a go at, however his true passion was found in football. From a young age he supported Chelsea FC and ever since has allowed them to ruin his weekends, much to Connie's annoyance. Countless times Sam has told her that his love affair with the football club is over and that he won't watch the next game, only to go back on his words just days later. Sam is a music lover and enjoys a real range of music - being one of the only people to create a Spotify playlist which will have him rapping one minute, and bellowing opera the next. Sam particularly loves a bit of Drake and enjoys proving this by rapping his albums from start to finish on car journeys or whilst cooking in the kitchen.

Sam loves buying more pairs of trainers and clothes than he could ever wear, and although he won't admit it, he most definitely takes up most of the space in his and Connie's wardrobe! Thankfully with the cost of this wedding, Sam's spending has had to be put on hold for the time being, however a larger house to hold the contents of his wardrobe will have to be on the cards after the big day.

Polite Notice:

Although Sam is the Groom, we request for you to not ask him any questions about the wedding day - he has no clue what’s happening!

Strength: Has great taste in music and is surprisingly someone you would like to hand a microphone to, especially if Elvis, Queen or ABBA are playing.

Weakness: Has the potential to ruin all wedding photos as he’ll most likely be a blubbering mess the whole time.

Ralph

The Fur Baby

Ralph is Connie and Sam’s first born and is a real sweetheart. He is always ready to greet you with a wagging tail and a blankey in his mouth. He loves doing zoomies around the house and enjoys a spot of open water swimming (he’s not fussed by what he’s swimming in - it could be the sea, however he’s just as happy for it to be a dirty pigs trough). In his spare time he enjoys destroying any toy with a squeak in it.

Wedding Fact:

Yvonne (Mother of the Groom) enquired about training Ralph to be the ring bearer back when she found out that Chapel House Estate is indeed dog friendly. Despite Yvonne’s persistence, this ginger fur child will unfortunately not be gracing us with his presence on the day.

So he doesn’t feel left out, please pop round some time soon for some Ralphie hugs and slobbery kisses.

Strength: Loves giving cuddles and covering you in his ginger hairs.

Weakness: Would probably smother his mum’s dress in mud if he had the chance.

Sarah

Mother of the Bride

Sarah is Connie's OCD, Dyson obsessed, cleaning fanatic, mother. Sarah has always been the captain of the ship and runs a very, VERY tight schedule. Sarah's intense cleaning regime starts at 8am sharp and includes a house hoover from top to bottom at least twice a day. This does not exclude weekends or school holidays, and as a result for years Connie would have to endure Sarah bursting into her room at around 8:25am with the hoover blaring, no matter her state of consciousness. After years of this torture, Connie has Sarah to thank for the one positive which has come out of this (other than a spotless room) - her extremely deep sleeping (ask Rachel, Sophie or Sam, she can sleep through 15 alarms, a hair dryer or even Ralph's barking - not so great for them, but brilliant for her).

Sarah knows how to have a laugh, or should we say how to make people laugh at her. The clumsiest and daftest person Connie knows, Sarah regularly has her and the rest of the family in stiches and smiling from ear to ear. Sarah is extremely kind and caring, the best advice and hug giver and most importantly, Connie's best friend.

Strength: Will provide free entertainment for all guests (she will say and do some silly things, enjoy!)

Weakness: Most likely to be leaving the venue in an ambulance (no we’re not being dramatic, Sarah has done this before - a result of throwing too many shapes on the dance floor).

photo
photo

Mick

Father of the Bride

Mick is Connie’s car loving, Guinness drinking, golf obsessed, Dad. Having two daughters, Mick unfortunately didn’t get the son he would have loved. However back when Connie was little, she rose to the occasion and when growing up was most certainly a bit of a tomboy. She regularly dressed head to toe in football kits, enjoyed an occasional trip to Stamford Bridge back in Chelsea’s glory days and even spent a summer at Mick’s golf club learning the difference between a wood and a wedge at golf school. Over twenty years of watching Connie performing in dance shows and being forced to watch hours of reality TV later, Mick finally shares his interests with his die-hard Chelsea supporter and avid golfer, Son in law to be, Sam.

Mick is an easy going, generous and extremely loving dad who enjoys a spot of sarcastic banter, especially at Sarah’s or Sam’s expense.

Strength: Does not know his limits of alcohol - keep those drinks coming!

Weakness: Might unapologetically fall asleep during the speeches (best make those speeches interesting boys).

photo
photo

Yvonne

Mother of the Groom

Yvonne is Sam's craft loving, always smiling, rather loud, mother. Yvonne has spent the majority of her life being outnumbered by Paul, Sam, and his two brothers Aaron and Levi. As a result, she has become completely desensitised to mess, mayhem and muddy football boots! She has sat through hours of football, both on Sky Sports and pitch side watching the boys, and can proudly explain the off-side rule as well as name Chelsea's starting eleven. Yvonne was the peace maker in the house when the boys were growing up, constantly having to break up arguments between Sam and Levi. This included monitoring (to the minute) how long each of the them spent on the PlayStation and counting out the number of Haribo in a packet to make sure they both got an even split.

Yvonne is fun, thoughtful and always the first person Sam goes to for help. She is always on hand with her drill or paintbrush to help with Connie's latest DIY ideas and never gets annoyed when she wants to change things a month later. She cares greatly about those closest to her and will always put them first.

Strength: Will be the first to be up dancing on the chairs and tables with Connie - she is a vibe!

Weakness: If you need to find Yvonne on the day, don't worry - you'll hear her.

photo
photo

Paul

Father of the Groom

Paul is Sam's technophobe (he won't know how on earth to work this website), EggHead wannabe, sport obsessed, father. Paul is extremely passionate about all types of sport and was in fact the county trampoline champion when he was younger. He particularly enjoyed becoming Sam's personal in-car coach before and after football games each week, however Sam unfortunately didn't enjoy this as much. Sam even went to the extent of banning him from his matches, however Paul would still sneak into the stands to watch. Paul is the go-to for any TV or film recommendation and could be the first person in history to complete the whole of Netflix.

Paul is witty, always laughing and the best person to have on your team for a pub quiz due to his wealth of knowledge and range pointless facts. Unlike Yvonne, he will avoid DIY at all costs.

Strength: Always carries cash in his pocket - make sure to track him down for a drink!

Weakness: Hasn't cried since he was a child, so don't expect to see any tears on the day.

Sophie

Maid of Honour

Connie and Sophie have been partners in crime and the bestest of friends ever since they both can remember. They met back when they started school at the age of 5, and now with nearly over 25 years of friendship, I don't think either of them will ever be able to get rid of the other now.

Twins at heart, growing up the pair of them were pretty much inseparable. If being born just nine days apart didn’t do it, living just doors away (so close they were able to wave at each other through their bedroom windows) probably did. Although living hundreds of miles apart, and at times in completely different countries since university - their friendship is one that will last a lifetime!

When they were little, Connie and Sophie would always talk of the day they’d get married and have the other as their Maid of Honour. And here we are, dreams really do come true!

Strength: Will be right besides Connie doing something childish and silly (previously involving traffic cones or turkey hats).

Weakness: Will be the reason if Connie is running late on the wedding day (she would have ‘accidentally’ slept in, just like every morning of their secondary school life).

Cath

Maid of Honour

Connie and Cath have a decade of friendship together with many more to come. Meeting at Brighton University, Connie can always remember the first time she met Cath. She was sat with Henry and a bunch of other strangers in their first ever seminar and was quickly regretting all of her life choices as no one seemed to be her usual: fun, outgoing, cup of tea. A philosophical education question was asked to the group, and of course no one wanted to be the first to speak or say something wrong. Cath, with her incredibly loud, husky, slightly common voice eventually cracked under pressure with a witty remark to the group and at this moment, Connie knew that they'd be the best of friends.

Cath is an extremely thoughtful and caring friend who is the life and soul of the party. She is always one of the first for Connie to go to for advice (however she usually take at least 3 business days to reply - so she wouldn't be Connie's first call if she was in a burning fire).

Ever since Connie has known her, Cath has always been the go-to friend for a slightly wild and incredibly fun time, with most outings having a hilarious story to tell. Now slightly tamer, Connie and Cath usually opt for a children's soft play or zoo to spend their time together, entertaining Ada, Cath and Elliot's little girl and Connie and Sam's beautiful god-daughter.

Strength: If she needs to make any announcement or decides to make a speech during the day she will not need a microphone - just like Connie and many of the wedding party, she is rather loud!

Weakness: It takes longer to arrange plans with Cath than it has arranging this whole wedding - so let's hope with over two years notice she will arrive on the day.

Ellie-May

Bridesmaid

Connie and Ellie met at university when they were put in the same seminar group on their teaching degree. Now ten years later, they are still the best of friends and still have many things to tick off of their bucket list together (let's get to Ibiza baby!). From the North (anything is classed as north if it's above London, right?), this brummy girl can be hard to understand for us southerners and occasionally needs translating. A bundle of joy, and extra AF, Connie and Ellie can often be bad influences on each other, with things getting rather out of hand, rather quickly when they both have a Pornstar Martini in hand. They both take great joy in seeing just how bottomless a bottomless brunch really can be, followed by spending their time dancing outrageously on a dance floor together.

Ellie is very loving, caring and rather hilarious - always making everyone laugh and smile. She fills the room with energy and insists that every night out must include a rendition of Wonderwall, no matter the time or location.

Strength: Ellie will have her shoes off and in hand, waiting on the dancefloor ready to dance (and twerk), moments after the ceremony has finished. One Dance - Drake is her jam!

Weakness: Ellie can be rather clumsy at times and will most likely be the one to spill or break something on the day (she unfortunately has a history of spilling cocktails down bride's dresses, doesn't she Yas!).

Rachel

Bridesmaid

Connie and Rachel met back in 2014 when they went to Brighton University together. They bonded over cheese toasties, Pryzm Wednesdays and a love for a Revolution’s Gin ‘n’ Juice. Despite being the mummy bear of the group, Rachel would always be the first to encourage everyone to start pre-drinking and go out no matter the night of the week! Connie and Rachel have many unforgettable memories together, including both pulling tragically elaborate sickies during their placements so they didn't miss Wiley and J Hus at Wildlife festival.

After many things changing since uni, Connie and Rachel's friendship has not - Rachel is still one of Connie's best friends, still only living up the road (now in Herne Bay though and no longer Brighton) and still loves coming round for a drink - however now for a Taylor's caramel latte and famous sausage roll.

Strength: Will be the first on the dance floor when Chris Brown is played.

Weakness: Would preferably like to be in bed by 9pm in her red dressing gown.

Tom

Best Man

Sam and Tom have been friends for as long as they can remember. Although they always knew each other, they weren't the closest at school and judging by the difference in their GCSE's results, I think Sam is rather glad this was the case. As drinking each weekend became the norm, Sam spent most of his time round Tom's family home and South Street quickly became the place to be for a good time, plenty of booze and one of Don's famous BBQs. Tom shares many common interests with Sam, including a love for 80s music, jumping at any opportunity to put the world to rights and the beloved Chelsea Football Club (recent times have not been so easy).

Tom is an extremely organised individual (borderline control freak) who takes pride in organising a good group get together. Always making sure everyone has a good time, a thoughtful person that keeps things moving and making sure there is always something happening. A travel buddy, together these two have visited some amazing, and some not so amazing places over the years. From the 'interesting' Sunny Beach of Bulgaria to the amazing highs of Ibiza and Las Vegas. Tom can be extremely stubborn and a creature of habit, but this is nothing a big bar of Dairy Milk Fruit and Nut can't fix. He loves a debate so try to avoid getting cornered with him for too long as there's only one way it will end - you admitting defeat.

Strength: Being the control freak he is he will make sure the day runs as smooth as possible!

Weakness: Please be prepared for the truth to be embellished for dramatic effect during Tom’s speech ;) - apologies in advance to both of our parents for any disappointment or embarrassment which may be caused.

Joel

Groomsman

Sam and Joel also have a friendship dating years back. They met at school and have (un)fortunately stayed friends ever since. A whirlwind of drinking, laughter, travelling and getting out on the golf course, Joel has been an ever present in most of Sam's great memories for well over a decade. Sam and Joel share many things in common, however their taste in football teams could not be further apart (they don't even deserve a mention on here - one league title in 30 years). Another recent found interest they share is spending hours on the golf course. Sam particularly enjoys his rounds with Joel as they usually result in an easy win for him, no matter how many hours of practise Joel puts in.

Joel is hilarious, light hearted and has the ability to find the funny side of any situation, especially when it's at your expense. A good chef (although hard to admit) who can serve up a mean risotto when called upon. Having said this, he would much prefer going to someone else's house to raid their cupboards within ten minutes of walking in. Not known for putting his hand in his pocket, Joel has bought Sam all of two drinks in the time they have known each other. Could three be the lucky number come the wedding day?

Strength: An annoyingly good beer pong player so be sure to team up with him when the table comes out!

Weakness: Has a voice that once heard can not be forgotten, cover your ears.

Ollie

Groomsman

Sam and Ollie also met… yes, you’ve guessed it… at school. Living in the same area growing up, they would walk to school most mornings and home most afternoons laughing about how much they hated the place, whilst eating a bag of chips and a sausage roll. Again, a friendship built with a drink in hand (a common theme here), a great time has always been had, even if much of it isn’t remembered the next day! Staying with the drinking theme, there aren't many that can rival Ollie when it comes to the speed in which he can drink a beer. This being said, as much as he can drink a pint in record speed, he certainly cannot run at any type of speed and is the only person that is known to fracture his foot running 30 seconds for a train.

Ollie is loyal, hilarious and brings out the best in everyone he meets. It's impossible not have a good time with him and his infectious energy, anyone in his company will leave with their face aching from the constant fits of laughter he will have you in.

Please don't worry if you see Ollie bumping into things on the day, it will mean one of two things: he has had too many pints of Stella (again) or he has misplaced his glasses (also, again!). If anyone happens to find any glasses lying around on the day, we can bet that they will be Ollie's. and would appreciate it if you could return them to him asap, as he is useless without them!

Strength: The most likely to be persuaded to jump into the pond by the end of the night.

Weakness: Will somehow worm his way into all of the photographs with his beaming, large smile… completely uninvited!

Henry

Groomsman

Connie and Henry met when they moved into their halls at Brighton Uni and quickly realised that not only were they neighbours, but they were also on the same course. Connie was immediately taken back by Henry's voluminous, curly fro (believe me, these curls were a showstopper), his ability to sink a pint and his Jersey bank balance.

The two of them rapidly became the best of friends and were joint at the hip for the duration of their teaching degree. Henry would never say no to a night out (and still doesn't) and could always be counted on to roll out of a club on the seafront at sunrise. Having said this, he spent most of his nights out drinking Strongbow Dark Fruit ciders whilst waiting (and moaning) for the four girls to get ready.

Strength: Will be the life and soul of the party and guaranteed great time - just ask him about the twenty Guinness he drank in one day when they all went to Dublin (a recommended watch on Rachel's insta highlights!).

Weakness: Won't book his flights until a week before the wedding and will therefore ask Connie for the dates another 20 times before then.
