Lodging

Camping at the Yubaverse

We welcome you to camp on-site free of charge. There are 4 large tent campsites by the river, and plenty of additional camping space in the meadow.

Please note that if you plan to bring an RV or trailer, there are some size limitations due to the bridge at the entry of the property. Nothing over 96" wide (8 feet) and nothing over 11 tons (20,000 lbs). No exceptions! Most vans and small campers will have no problem with this, but keep it in mind.

Cabins and Huts at the Yubaverse

Cabins and huts on the Yubaverse property will be reserved for family. Huts are 'glamping' style with shared bathrooms and you must BYO sleeping bag. We have some extras we can lend out to travelers for the weekend if needed.

See the Yubaverse website here for prices and details:

Lodging in Downieville

The small town of Downieville is a 2-minute drive away. This is the closest lodging option if camping isn't your jam! There are multiple hotel options in town, as well as a few larger Airbnbs that could work for a group

- Riverside Mountain Lodge (discounted room block - call or email to book!)

- Carriage House Inn (discounted room block - call or email to book!)

- Downieville River Inn

Lodging in/near Sierra City

Within a 20 minute drive East, there are a few more lodging options. These are a bit further but are beautiful options as well!

- Sierra Shangri-La (5 mins)

- Sierra Steamside Resort (7 mins)

- Sierra Pines Resort (17 min)

- The Buttes Resort (18 mins)

Transportation

Airports

For those flying in, Reno (RNO) and Sacramento (SMF) are both good options. Reno is a bit closer and (maybe I'm biased!) a more scenic drive. Seriously, the buttes are mind blowing!

Unfortunately we are going to be deep in the woods so there arent good public transit options.

Driving

From Reno - 1hr 40mins - Its curvy....take a dramamine!

From Sacramento - 2 hrs

Aside from your typical airport rentals, check out Turo for peer-to-peer car rental (sometimes cheaper) or Outdoorsy for camper/van rentals

Food

Restaurants

Dinner will be provided at the Yubaverse on Friday and Saturday. There are also multiple cafes and restaurants in Downieville.

- Two Rivers Cafe

- Cold Rush Cafe

- La Cocina de Oro Taqueria

- Sabrinas at the Forks (inside the bike shop!)

Groceries

If you plan to grocery shop, we recommend stopping in Reno, Sacramento, or Truckee on your way up. There is a small grocery store in Downieville with some basics, but I wouldn't plan to rely on it fully!
