Courtlyn grew up in Augusta, Georgia, while Brandon was raised in Manassas, Virginia—500 miles apart until fate brought them together at work. Brandon moved to Augusta for his orthopedic surgery residency, and during a rotation in the burn intensive care unit, he met Courtlyn, a burn nurse. When he got lost one day at work, Courtlyn was there to help him find his way, and soon, they became inseparable.

Their relationship blossomed amidst coffee and lunch breaks at the hospital, where they discovered their shared love for travel. They embarked on adventures from Charleston to Mexico, creating cherished memories along the way. After a year of dating, Brandon proposed to Courtlyn during a skiing trip with her family in Banner Elk, North Carolina.
