All week Bret had been talking about doing one last big meal on the grill before we put it away for the winter, so when Saturday came and he got steaks I really didn’t think anything of it. He was also adamant that I not help make dinner, which I didn’t fight him on because I had exams and finals to study for. When he yelled down the hall that dinner was ready, and I walked into the kitchen I was surprised that he had lit a candle, and plated the meals, so again in my awkwardness of ruining all things I said, “Wow this is fancy, should I be worried that this is our last meal, are you breaking up with me?” To which he got weird and walked out of the kitchen. He was gone for a few minutes and I yelled for him to hurry up because the steaks are getting cold. When he walked into the kitchen he looked strange, but then he got down on one knee with Arya by his side, to which I replied, “Are your serious, or are you just messing with me right now?!” He never actually said the words, “Will you marry me” and I never actually said “Yes”, but what kind of story would it be if we weren’t our awkward selves.
