Where should we book our stay for the wedding?

We recommend you book your room as soon as possible!!! We are working on a room block rate and will share this information as soon as it is available, however, we RECOMMEND YOU BOOK NOW, as it is less expensive than the rates we are negotiating in the block rate to book with Marriott right now! It is about a 25 minute drive from Hanbury to the reception venue. We plan to have transportation to and from this location for the reception for guests.

What is the dress code?

Cocktail/Formal attire please. Not Black Tie formal, but not casual sundresses or jeans. Suits for men or a very smart jacket and trousers. Women, still recommend formal dresses but they can be full length or midi-dress, just not a casual Florida sundress. Do not wear black please, this is not common in the UK, NO BLACK at weddings, only funerals lol. This will still be a formal event. However, we want you to feel comfortable, so if those shoes are too high or that top buttons is too tight, at least try to keep it together for the pictures ;)

Do you have a wedding registry?

Our greatest gift would be your presence on our special day! We've been blessed with a comfortable home and all the essentials, so please don't feel obligated to give us a gift. If you'd like to contribute to our future as a married couple, a monetary gift would be cherished as we build our life together.

Are kids invited?

Kids are invited to this reception if the invitation is addressed to your entire family. Please RSVP for children with ages so we can plan for meals accordingly.

Can I bring a date?

If your invitation includes a guest, then yes, if not, we would prefer if it was just you!

Will there be an open or cash bar?

Our wedding will have an open bar with beer and wine, but the liquor options will be more limited due to what the venue has in stock. Once we hit a certain amount, it will become a cash bar, so please bring your cards or cash if you may need it for late night drinks.

Will there be vegan/vegetarian/gluten free options?

Yes, we are having a supper buffet, it won’t be heavy food, but we have made our best effort to provide options for dietary restrictions.

Will there be parking at the wedding venue?

There will be parking at the venue and accessible.

Will the wedding be outdoors?

The reception will be inside and outside. There will be outdoor activities in the garden you won't want to miss. Dinner and dancing will be indoors.

What is the weather forecast?

It is usually sunny in July in this area of the UK. Average temperatures are 73F/21C during the day and 58F/14C in the evening. There is always a chance of rain, it is England :)

What is the story behind the magpies in the logo?

When Courtney and Sean first met and started spending time in England, Sean told Courtney the story that magpies are rarely seen on their own. When you do see a magpie alone, you are supposed to ask, "Hello Mr. Magpie, where is your wife or mate?" and if you don't say this to a single magpie it is considered bad luck. Sean also called Courtney a magpie because they are known to love (and steal from windowsills!) shiny things. As they researched this common bird found in the UK they learned that magpies are rarely alone because they mate for life. After that it became a running theme that they were a couple of magpies!!

What are the details of the Welcome Drinks on July 18, 2025?

This will be at a casual pub on the high street in Ware. Casual attire (shorts are acceptable). There will not be food provided. Please pop in to say hello and have a beer or a cocktail before or after your dinner. We strongly suggest you make dinner reservations for this date ahead of time, there are a lot of great places listed in the Q&A for food on the high street and you can walk to each of them! It is located at Hatfield House in Hatfield Park in the Old Palace. For your uber or navigation please enter: Hatfield House, Hatfield Park AL9 5HX UK. Go to visitor's carpark area for parking and directions if you are not dropped at the entrance of the Old Palace. There is parking available as well at the visitor's carpark.

We will have a casual and classic pub night. Please pop in for a drink. Food will not be provided, however, the pub does have food if you want to sit down, order and eat there! It will be a cash bar and credit cards also accepted (for Americans, best to bring a Visa/Mastercard as Amex is not accepted at many European locations).

If you want to eat elsewhere before or after the pub, we recommend making reservations.

Transportation: If you are staying at Hanbury, Golden Boy Coaches will arrive in front of the lobby to pick up guests for transport to Hatfield House. The coaches will arrive at 2:05pm and will leave promptly at 2:15pm for a 3pm reception arrival. If you miss the coaches, you can uber to the event or you are welcome to drive, there is parking at Hatfield.

Reception: We will have beer, wine, spirits, dinner, dancing, cake, sweets, games and several British celebratory events throughout the reception! We are so excited to celebrate our wedding with everyone in the UK. If you are arriving via uber or driving (parking is available at the venue), please go to the OLD PALACE, not Hatfield Park (they will have Battle of the Proms going at the park), not the large palace that is still occupied. The OLD PALACE is near the parking area at AL9 5HX. There will also be signage.

This is our favorite spot and there is a line out the door until they sell out. It is worth going in the morning or for lunch to get some amazing local baked goods and the best sourdough bread EVER! They open at 6:30am and they are usually sold out by 1pm.
