This unique concept of building an up-scale hotel focusing on
one Native American Nation is a first in the State of Arizona.
Starting with the outside facade resembling a Hopi traditional
home and featuring a stained glass window of the Sun Kachina -
the hotel begins to immerse the visitor in the Hopi cultural.
Entering the lobby - subtle Hopi flute music plays providing a
soothing welcome to the hotel while guests view various forms
of original Hopi art. A stone floor-to-ceiling fireplace adds
warmth to the area and the original Hopi mural behind the
Registration Desk begins peaking the curiosity of the guest to
see if the hotel holds more. The presence of art in various
forms continues through the entire hotel. The hotel is striving
to be a welcoming haven after a long day of travel.
Although not a written language - both Hopi and English printed
words are at room doorways describing the room that is about to
be entered. Handmade tile is above each room number and public
areas will display the use of muted colors - making the
individual art pieces the focal point.
Each room or suite will showcase the original art purchased by
the Hopi artists. A neutral pallet of color used for each room
will be the background that enhances the presentation of Hopi
Art. To honor the villages on the Reservation - twelve rooms
will be selected to bear the name of each village.
Adding art shows - social dancing - history from a Hopi tribal
member - lectures on the making of Hopi art mixed with a glass
of wine or beer adds a gentle finish to a busy day.
No other hotel in the area or the State of Arizona takes a
simple hotel stay and turns it into a destination for those
interested in history - culture and art.
