What airport should I fly to?

The closest airport is Pearson International in Toronto, Ontario. American citizens may also want to consider flying into Buffalo Niagara International airport in Buffalo, New York.

Both airports have plenty of car rental options (see below for car rental info.)

If you fly to Buffalo: Our location at Five Oaks is a 1.5-2hr drive from the airport. You will cross the Canadian border by car and the time it takes will depend on border wait times.

If flying to Toronto: Five Oaks is about a 1 -1.5hr drive from Pearson Airport. American citizens will cross the border and customs at the airport.

Will I need a passport?

Yes! You will need a US passport in order to enter Canada by air or by land.

Can I rent a car in the US (at Buffalo airport) and drive it into Canada?

Yes, Buffalo airport has several rental car agencies. However only certain rental car agencies will allow you to drive their cars into Canada - get in touch with the agency ahead of time to be sure that this is ok.

Wait, the speed limit in Canada is 100!?!?!

Yes, but remember that that's in kilometers per hour, not miles per hour. 😉(Gas is also in litres, not gallons. Or liters.)
