Our Story

On a chilly evening in October 2019, Dana and Frank met while at their first THON committee meeting of the 2020 THON year! Little did they know where they would end up..

On a chilly evening in October 2019, Dana and Frank met while at their first THON committee meeting of the 2020 THON year! Little did they know where they would end up..
They soon became close friends, always finding each other in every crowd, and soon their friendship would turn into something more. They went on their first official date in early February of 2020 and spent the evening chatting away over pizza at a cozy spot in State College. A couple of weeks later, during a night out with friends at Pickles in Downtown State College, Frank asks Dana "so are you my girlfriend because I've pretty much been telling everyone you are.." - and they become official!

They soon became close friends, always finding each other in every crowd, and soon their friendship would turn into something more. They went on their first official date in early February of 2020 and spent the evening chatting away over pizza at a cozy spot in State College. A couple of weeks later, during a night out with friends at Pickles in Downtown State College, Frank asks Dana "so are you my girlfriend because I've pretty much been telling everyone you are.." - and they become official!

For the next year and a half, Frank and Dana dated long-distance from opposite ends of Pennsylvania. They FaceTimed daily, watched their favorite shows together every night, and visited each other frequently in each other's hometowns. Their bond grew stronger and stronger despite the distance.


In 2021, they both moved to the DC area where their bond grew even deeper through more time spent together. They spent weekends exploring their new towns, venturing downtown to museums together, and finding many rooftop bars to take in the city sights.


They moved to Pittsburgh together in 2023, but they still frequently visited the DC area to reminisce about their time living there.

During a visit back to DC, Frank and Dana went for an evening walk on the National Mall. It was an unusually busy night on the mall and Frank spent most of the stroll trying to find a private spot to pop the question, growing increasingly panicked that he wouldn't find the perfect place. Fortunately, Dana was lost in the warm evening and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. They were nearing a grove of trees when she noticed Frank was no longer walking next to her. She turned around to see where he went and found him on his knee. He proposed and she said YES!
