Shelly and Dan met at Rider University while studying Musical Theater. After 2 and a half years of friendship, Dan asked Shelly on an official date to Varsity Pizza (Dan's favorite). They remember feeling like little kids giggling while sharing a few slices of pizza wishing they had done this years ago. After this day they became pretty inseparable and it was only the beginning!

Almost immediately after their first date, Shelly and Dan were cast in a show opposite one another. At this point they both knew, the fates were saying LEAN IN! Finally, after a few months of dating, they became an official couple. Shelly remembers feeling so quickly that Dan was the person she was going to spend the rest of her life with. She actually told her parents that exact thing right after taking this photo on opening night when Dan stepped away for a moment.

Whether it was hitting the infamous Cinco De Mayo party together...

...or going to their APO formal, they quickly and easily became intertwined into each other's lives.

In another twist of fate they were lucky enough to spend the summer together as members of the Forestburgh Playhouse resident company where they had one of the best summers of their lives.

After their summer in the Catskills, Shelly and Dan headed back to Rider for their senior year. For New Years, the Maldonado's took Shelly to Puerto Rico for her first time where she fell in love with them and the island. Little did they know that this spot would eventually become the backdrop of one of the most special moments of their lives.

After graduating college, Shelly and Dan moved straight to New York City to start their life together!

For all of 2019 they enjoyed living in New York City and working as actors full time. Between gigs they spent lots of time on Long Island with Dan's family!

And, always made time to get to Virginia with Shelly's family!

Once Shelly was on tour they were often in different states and different time zones. However, they always made time to meet in new cities and have lots of new experiences together.

Once 2020 hit and things got difficult, Shelly and Dan continued to look to each other. They both moved back to Long Island for a bit to reset and plan for the future.

Shelly and Dan used 2020 and 2021 to spend time together and with their family. They filmed music, drove up and down the East Coast, hiked, swam and most importantly took care of themselves.

And with that personal growth, they also felt the need to grow their family! Enter, Archie!

They got back to traveling with their best friends and geared up to move back to the city!

In 2022 Dan booked the Broadway bound &Juliet. Immediately, they decided to move to Canada together for the summer for the out-of-town run. While there, Shelly went to Paris and explored her own career path. Then it was back to NYC where Dan was headed to Broadway!

Before Broadway, they finally got themselves back to Puerto Rico after 4 years. After a few days of exploring their favorite island they found themselves in that very same spot from 2018. Through weeks of planning Dan and their friends orchestrated the most beautiful and intimate proposal. As they went over to re create the photo from 2018 Shelly turned around, Dan got down on one knee and the rest is history!
