Traveling to Terlizzi

Dan and Shelly are so excited to invite you to their marriage on September 4, 2024, in Terlizzi, Italy, the 'City of Flowers'! Please read this page (and every page) in its entirety. They are so grateful for you.

Important things to note:

1. Flight prices change quickly and often. It is recommended to use third-party websites (Expedia or Kayak) or Hopper (D&S's top pick!) to track flights. In general, 2-3 months away from the trip will be the best time to book.

2. Consider checking all airports around you because the price difference could be huge. For the most part, flights can be between $600-$1200 depending on when and where you look, so keep checking in.

3. If you are considering renting a car, which we HIGHLY recommend, Italians drive exactly how we do in America so no need to stress about opposite sides.

AMERICA → Europe → Bari

Dan and Shelly encourage everyone to look at multiple cities for their connecting flights. Some options would be Rome, Paris, London, Croatia and the list goes on!

The most common form of travel to Bari would be flying directly to Rome or Naples, and then taking another quick flight, driving or training to the beautiful city of Bari. We will go over a few options below but encourage you to do your own research as well for whatever fits your fancy. We have found a really helpful link that goes over more details here!

Airplane → Car

After flying into Rome or Naples the drive to Bari is 4 1/2 hours down the coast. This option will give you the freedom to explore some nearby towns and will not require you to take any public transit.

Step by step for driving:

1. Go to Kayak, Expedia, Hopper (app), etc, and book your round-trip flight to Italy.

2. Once your flight is booked, book your car using Expedia, Kayak, etc. We recommend picking up and returning your car to the airport.

3. When you're in your rental car and ready to hit the road, Google Maps works great to get you to your destination.

Airplane → Airplane

This is how Dan and Shelly will be traveling.

If you would prefer not to drive, you have the option to take connecting flights to Bari. It's important to note that there are NO direct flights from the US to Bari so you will need to have a transfer somewhere in Europe. If you fly to Rome, the flight to Bari is a little over an hour.

Please note that if you fly to Bari you will still need to rent a car or hire a car service to travel the 30 minutes from the airport to our recommended lodging. There are no Ubers there.

Step by step for flying:

1. Use Kayak, Expedia, Hopper (app), etc., and search for round-trip flights to Bari, Italy.

2. Once all your flights are booked, decide how you plan on getting from the airport to your lodging. From our research on Expedia, renting a car in Bari can range from $50-$100 a day. You can also hire a car service to transport you from the airport to your lodging.
