Our Story

His Story

my name is Connor, my fiance's name is Danielle. when we met, we were two of three individuals working in a fellowship program with University of Colorado. We had known of each other for a few months but did not interact much. I definitely thought she was attractive but she was very focused at work and could be unapproachable at times. it seemed like there was never a chance to talk with her. one day, I overheard her talking about having hit an object on the way into work and something was hanging off of her car. This was my perfect chance to help and at least say Hi. I offered to fix it as I had tools in my car and we parked on the same street. she hesitantly agreed. I fixed a skid plate bent from under her car, she thanked me, and that was it. Unfortunately, nothing came about aside from an awkward head nod or "hello's" for what felt like a year (like 2 months). One day my boss invited the fellowship employees out to go to this country bar, the Grizzly Rose, to go line dancing. As some of you may know, Danni LOVES to dance but I did not inherit a gene with rhythm. I was nervous as hell considering it's line dancing and my knowledge of line dancing consisted of a 2 week block in PE about 14 years ago. Either way, we show up to the Grizzly rose and she's dressed for the part, and I see her hair done up for the first time since I've known her. I thought she was pretty in a pony tail and khakis but she was drop dead gorgeous that night. My boss is trying to teach us (Me) how to add some flare to a two-step and it's going about as smooth as will smith teaching kevin james how to dance in Hitch. Finally, after enough liquid courage, I try a few dances out and it goes about as good as any crash course goes. Thankfully, Danni is in her element so when I finally ask her to dance, she leads me all over the dance floor. My dance moves obviously managed to impress her enough to earn a second date and the rest is history.

Her Story

Connor and I met through work at University of Colorado. Both of us were freshly out of grad school. Our first year working at Colorado I was very focused on work and couldn't be bothered with distraction. I didn't really see Connor as anything more than the overly happy/overly nice co-worker that hung around the football facility a little too much. It wasn't until our second year, at the CU Sports Med Christmas Party, that I truly "saw Connor" for the first time. He was dressed up fancy in a suit and was slightly sun-burned from going snowboarding that morning. He overall looked super handsome and caught my eye. I spent the rest of the night actually getting to know him. Even though we had already worked near each other for a year, I realized I barely knew him at all! A few nights later, we go out dancing with some friends at the Grizzly Rose. After that night I went home for the Holidays and according to my friends - I could not stop talking about him! When I got back to CO he invited me to go go snowboarding. I wasn't sure if it was going to be a date or not, but I quickly realized it WAS a date. We have been dating ever since and each day I feel more and more blessed to get to date Connor forever.

We both eventually moved to SLC and this is where we have truly started our life together. We've started new jobs together, moved in together, become parents to Miss Pickles. We go camping, golfing and hiking in the summers. Winters are filled with snowboarding and hitting up different brunch spots and breweries in the city. Utah has blessed us with so many great experiences and great friends! It is where we have taken many of our next steps in our relationship. We are so excited to see what the future has in store for us from here as we continue the adventure of life together!
