Do I need a passport?

Yes, you need a valid passport to travel to Italy. If your passport is expired or set to expire we highly recommend giving yourself ample amount of time as it is currently taking at least 6-8 weeks for renewal as well as getting a passport for the first time.

Which airports should I fly into?

Florence Airport (FLR Peretola) is the airport closest to the wedding destination. Unfortunately, there are no direct flights into Florence so a layover is required should you fly into there. Castello di Montalto is then only an 40 mins - hour drive from this airport. Transportation to be arranged. Other options include flying to Milan or Rome. Majority of direct flights from the NY/NJ area will go to Milan (MXP Malpensa Airport) or Rome (FCO Leonardo da Vinci Airport). Both these airports are good options to fly into and are easy to catch a high speed train to the station.

Do I need a visa?

No visa is required of U.S. citizens travelling to Italy for tourism for fewer than 90 days. A visa is required for longer stays.

Flew into Rome? Car - 2 hours to Venue Train - follow these steps. 1. Catch the high speed train from Rome Airport to Rome Termini- 30 min- direct 2. From Rome Termini take high speed train to Florence Santa Maria Novella stop- 1:30 hr- direct 3. Catch Florence Santa Maria Novella to Siena- 1:30 hr- direct 4. Catch a taxi from Siena train station to Castello di Montalto- 45 min and you have arrived! Flew into Florence? Car- 1 hour to venue Train - follow these steps. 1. Catch the high speed train from Florence Santa Maria Novella to Siena- 1:30 hr- direct 2. Then catch a taxi from Siena to Castello di Montalto- 45 min and you have arrived! Flew into Milan? Car - 4 hours to venue Train- follow these steps. 1. Catch the train from Milan Central to Florence Santa Maria Novella- 1:45 hr- direct 2. Then catch train from Florence Santa Maria Novella to Siena- 1:30 hr- direct 3. Then catch a taxi drive from Siena to Castello di Montalto- 45 min, and you have arrived!

Where do I book train tickets? Can I book all of it at once?

You can book all of your train tickets all at once on www.italiarail.com. The website that shows you from your starting location to your ending location. Please book these in advance as availability as well as the cost of tickets increases the closer to the date.

When should I book my flight by?

Flights for June 2025 should be available to book in mid July of 2024. Since June is a peak month for Italy, booking earlier is better. We suggest you continue to monitor flight prices as they do rise and fall.

Do I need to take a train or can I take a car?

You do not need to take a train you can cut the travel time and take a car directly from the airport to the venue. Below is how long it will take to get there. Should we have enough people arriving at the same time we will arrange group transportation. Please contact bride and groom should this apply to you. From Florence Airport to Castello di Montalto- 1 hour From Rome FCO Airport to Castello di Montalto- 2 hours and 28 minutes From Milan MXP Airport to - 4 hours and 15 minutes.

How can I join the group transportation from Siena on Monday June 9th?

Please reach out to the bride and groom to get info regarding the group transportation being arranged on June 9th as well as June 12th Transportation will leave Sienna and take guests to the wedding venue as well as drop guests off at the train station on June 12th.
