How We Met:

You know the phrase “we met online”. Danielle first met her fiancé through a mutual friend at the time by playing videogames online. They used voice calling through Discord just playing games like Dead By Daylight, GTA V, Minecraft and all sorts of stuff. While Danielle was studying for her B.S in Mathematics she had a lot of trouble sleeping. So, Yannick would always offer to keep her company until she could fall asleep. Sometimes Yannick would play games for Danielle to watch to fall asleep too or she would join him until she could fall asleep. They would talk for hours every day for at least four hours.

When it was Thanksgiving break at university, Danielle went back to see her parents which was a 6-hour drive from college in Lubbock Texas to San Antonio Texas. Yannick offered to keep Danielle company via just calling Danielle for a full six-hour drive. At first, she said no since she didn’t want to bore him or take up his whole day but he insisted. So, every drive back and forth from college in the holiday seasons Yannick kept Danielle company for the full six hours making sure she got home safe. They would play games after till it was Yannick’s bed time.

As the months went by, we fell more in love. Yannick wanted to come see Danielle graduate with her bachelors in May 2020 but then COVID hit, and Yannick flight was canceled with no refund. The same happened in May of 2021 with Danielle getting her MBA, the flight was canceled to Texas with no refund. But then in December 2021 the restrictions were lifted. So, Danielle flew the day after Christmas 2021 to go spend a week with Yannick. Yannick bought Danielle a beautiful 14k gold and sapphire necklace and took her on a magical date to In Choc Gent which is where Danielle had a Belgian waffle with strawberries and chocolate drizzled all over it. Since then, Danielle went to go visit Yannick in Belgium of March 2022- April 2022, then Yannick came over to Texas for the first time in May 2022-July 2022 then he came over to Texas for Christmas from December 2022- January/February 2023.

The Proposal:

Danielle flew over to Belgium on May 5th 2023 arriving on May 6th 2023. Danielle had a rough flight the people next to her both popped a Xanax and drank a beer right as the flight started so they were up and about the whole flight, then there was a medical emergency on her row on the opposite side with a lot of chaos during the flight. So, when she landed, she was exhausted. She fell asleep standing up on the train to Gent her favorite place in Belgium. Yannick was nervous for the moment just because he had to keep the ring safe and keep Danielle from noticing it while he held Danielle standing up so she wouldn’t fall over while taking a nap standing up. Once they got to Gent, they dropped off their bags since it was not time to check in and then we went to the place where we first had a date in person In Choc and got some chocolate milkshakes then Yannick asked Danielle if she wanted to go to Gravensteen since he had some tickets. Danielle who has been asking every year since they met to go see it was excited and said yes. So, Yannick and Danielle took a walking tour of Gravensteen as we went to the top we saw that a group just left so we rushed to the top and Danielle went for a picture of the whole city Yannick was behind her bending the knee. Danielle turned around and Yannick asked her to marry him and here we are here today!

The Big Day:

After 6 years of knowing each other, moving in with each other. We are ready to take this big step together, and we couldn't be more excited about our future. We look forward to celebrating this special journey with all of you and can’t wait to share more details in the coming months.
