What should I wear to the wedding?
The dress code for our wedding is Black Tie Optional. For men, this typically means a black suit or tuxedo with a darker tie (it doesn't necessarily have to be black). For women, we suggest long, formal dresses. We've also shared some photos in an email that include our preferred color palette — greens and/or earth tones. Additionally, we will be walking on uneven ground so block heels are recommended. Please keep in mind that it may be chilly, so we recommend bringing a jacket or wrap to stay warm.
Will the wedding be outdoors?
The ceremony will be outdoors, so please dress accordingly and consider bringing a jacket if it's chilly. The reception will be indoors, where it will be nice and cozy for dinner.
What will the weather be like?
Late May in Banff and Canmore typically brings daytime temperatures between 50°F and 59°F, with cooler nights dipping to around 30°F to 37°F. The weather can be a bit unpredictable — you might get sunshine, rain, or even a little snow at higher elevations. We recommend dressing in layers and bringing a warm jacket to stay comfortable throughout the day.
What Should I Wear to the Welcome Dinner?
The Welcome Dinner will be a casual and relaxed event. For men, a sports coat and slacks (or the equivalent) would be great, and for women, a dress or something nice. That said, it's not a big deal—wear whatever makes you feel comfortable! There won’t be professional photography or videography, so no pressure to dress up too much.
What else should I bring?
The Canmore/Banff area is full of beautiful nature and fantastic hiking trails, so if you're planning to explore, we recommend packing some good walking or hiking shoes and comfortable clothes for any hikes or walks. It’s a great way to take in the scenery and enjoy the outdoors! Additionally, many hiking websites recommend carrying bear spray, as the area is home to wildlife. If you plan on hiking, be sure to research proper bear safety guidelines.
Do I need to attend all events on the Weekend Details page?
While we'd love to see you at as many events as possible, the Saturday, Sunday, and Monday celebrations are the main events, and we would truly appreciate your attendance. The other gatherings are completely optional — you're more than welcome to join, but there's absolutely no pressure! We completely understand if you'd rather use that time to relax or explore and enjoy your vacation. If you do plan to attend any of the optional events, please let us know on the RSVP page so we can plan accordingly. Just note that guests will be responsible for their own bill at those gatherings.
Should I get ready at my own place?
Nope! We would love for everyone to get ready together at our place. For the women, we've arranged for hair and makeup services, and we'll have bagels and other snacks to keep everyone fueled throughout the day. After dinner, you're welcome to swing by and pick up anything you may have left behind. Please check the Weekend Details page for the time we'd like you to arrive.
Will transportation be provided?
Yes! We will provide transportation from our Airbnb to the wedding ceremony and then from the ceremony to the dinner reception. Please note that guests will need to arrange their own transportation to our Airbnb and from the dinner reception back home (however taxis should be readily available). We hope this helps make the day as seamless as possible!
Are you registered?
Yes! We’re registered at Crate & Barrel, William Sonoma, West Elm, and Target. You can find them all on this website under the “registry” tab!
