Veterans Day is observed on Friday, November 11th. We recommend flying into Washington Reagan Airport (DCA) Thursday night and enjoying the weekend in the nation’s capital. Check out the recommendations below!
The Waldorf Astoria Washington DC is located half-way between the White House and the Capitol Building on the iconic Pennsylvania Avenue. Known as the Old Post Office, the historical building housed the Postmaster General and his staff. It is the only Forbes Five Star Hotel in D.C. steeped in history and luxury. Contact David or Carolyn for special rate availability.
Only two blocks from the wedding venue, the hotel offers intuitively designed hotel rooms and spacious suites that offer elegant furnishings and modern technology. Many hotel rooms boast incredible views of downtown Washington, DC, and its famed monuments.

As one of Washington’s historic landmark hotels, The Willard InterContinental has seen its fair share of history through the years. In 1861, Abraham Lincoln took up residence at The Willard in the ten days prior to his inauguration. Ulysses S. Grant later coined the term “lobbyist” at the hotel, as he was often bothered by the self-promoters and glad handers he would meet in the lobby. InterContinental retained impeccable standards as one of Washington’s foremost hotels, continuing that theme through the current day.
Discover a refined oasis boasting breathtaking views, modern furnishings, and curated details from floor to ceiling. The rooftop bar overlooks the White House!
"The metro" is the easiest and cheapest way to get around the D.C. area.
From DCA: take the Yellow Line toward Fort Totten and get off at Archives/Navy Memorial for the Waldorf Astoria.
From IAD: take the Silver Line toward Largo Town Center and get off at Federal Triangle for the Waldorf Astoria.
Metro cards can be purchased through the Wallet app on iPhones (or at the station). Of course, standard Uber/Lyft/Taxi or rental car is available. We do not recommend renting a car due to high parking costs in D.C.
