Our Wedding

Dante and Deidre have been together for eight years. They met as freshmen at Bentley University in Massachusetts, and started dating that summer. Unfortunately for them, Deidre transferred to Hofstra University on Long Island halfway through sophomore year, which led to them making the decision to try long distance. They spent the next few years traveling back and forth between Long Island and Massachusetts, supporting each other from afar through normal college things like finals, searching for internships, and applying for jobs. This support continued as they entered the “adult” world, and leaned on each other during personal and professional struggles. As they would tearfully say goodbye in the train station after a weekend together, what kept them going was the promise of the next visit, as well as the goal of living in the same state someday soon.  In August 2020, after five long years of late night FaceTime calls and monthly visits, Deidre finally made the move to Massachusetts. She and Dante were so excited to finally date like a normal couple and only have to wait a few days to see each other, rather than a few weeks. Dante moved in with her in the summer of 2021. When they had dinner together the first night in their apartment, it was the best feeling knowing they finally didn’t have to say goodbye.  On August 18, 2022, at the Francis Ford Coppola winery in California, just before sunset, Dante got down on one knee and asked Deidre to marry him. They are on cloud nine with excitement as they start this next chapter together, and can’t wait to celebrate with their family and friends!

Hampton Inn Garden City Long Island

There are multiple different ways to travel to LI. If you’re planning to fly in, you can fly to either LaGuardia (LGA) or JFK Airport. From either airport you can take an Uber to your hotel. If you’re driving down from the Boston area, you can either drive the whole way (approx. 4 hours), or drive to Bridgeport, CT (approx. 2.5 hours), take the ferry to Port Jefferson, NY, and then drive another half hour to the hotel. We advise against using the New London, CT/Orient Point, NY ferry, because that will be a much longer drive from the eastern end of LI to the hotel.

Traveling to Long Island

Travel

The largest mall on Long Island is a short drive from your hotel. Stop by here if you forgot anything for the weekend or want to do some shopping! Fun fact: Deidre worked at the Macy’s in this mall for three years during college!

If youre looking for something to do the morning of the wedding, we highly suggest going to brunch. There are a few diners close to the hotels, but there are other great restaurants nearby as well! Brunch

Here you can learn about the history of flight and the science and technology of aviation. This museum features 75 air and spacecraft models in eight galleries, as well as a planetarium!Fun fact: Charles Lindbergh began his historic transatlantic flight from right here on Long Island!

Cradle of Aviation Museum

Just a short drive from the hotel is the Carle Place train station. Purchase your LIRR ticket at the station and NYC is only a 45 minute train ride away! NYC in December is a must-see, visit the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, window shop on 5th Ave, the choices are endless! Another train station close by is the Mineola station, both can easily bring you into Manhattan.
