Our Story

Our Story, As told by each of us

Brady's POV:

Freshman year of undergrad I wasn't looking for a partner for life. After meeting her through a mutual friend, though, I knew I found someone special. I immediately was smitten for Delaney, but could tell she needed some time before committing to anything serious... After several months of me relentlessly being by her side she finally accepted me into her life.

Less than 6 months within us dating I told her that I could feel we were meant for each other and that we'd get married. For some reason she didn't believe me. Luckily, I didn't scare her off.

We supported each other through undergrad, spending lots of time getting to know each other and our families. Delaney adopted Suri, even though I never had a great relationship with cats. She reminded me how wrong I was about them, and... she was right. I loved my girls and visiting them was the highlight of my week every week.

Eventually we inadvertently lived together due to COVID. It was exactly where we needed to be; bringing us a lot closer together. We realized that living together was our next step and we nearly couldn't wait. After I graduated we rented our first apartment together, where we added Goose (and eventually Mars), our two boy cats, into our lives.

I was always under the impression we were going to wait to marry until she was out of grad school. BUT... at Kayley and Tyler's wedding, seeing how beautiful Delaney looked I knew I couldn't wait any longer. So I started planning the proposal the next day. I took a long time making sure the custom designed ring was perfect. Delaney loves accessorizing with lots of rings and other jewelry so I knew it needed to flow well with her style but I had little information to go on. I knew she would say yes, but I wanted it to be a perfect memory. After a lot of nerves the day finally came. Keeping that secret from her was probably one of the hardest thing I've ever done. With the poker face of a champion, I was finally able to ask her to marry me on the bluffs of Lion's Den Gorge. Delaney was so excited she nearly fell down the bluff!

Delaney is the most fascinating person I know and I am so full of joy having her in my life. I love you!

Delaney's POV:

Freshman year of undergrad I was introduced to Brady by a mutual friend. After a couple months, I was reintroduced to him but this time as a set up by Danielle. Immediately I was interested in Brady, but I was trying to lie to myself by saying that I wasn't interested in a relationship. Thankfully Brady was persistent in telling me that we would be a part of each others lives for a long time. And although he isn't right often...he was really right about that. Once I finally let my walls down and agreed to be in a relationship with him April 20 2018, it was pretty obvious to me that we were going to be together for a lonnnnng time.

He became on honorary roommate to a house a five girls during COVID, and after that we knew our next move was living together. I couldn't think about going back to not being around him all the time. We got our first apartment together and grew in size by adding two cats, along with our OG cat Suri. It was perfect.

I started getting antsy about when he was going to ask me to marry him but tried to keep the questioning casual. (You can ask him if I was successful at that). On February 19th we went for what I thought was going to be a normal hike at Lions Den Park. I thought it was odd when we got there because Brady was slipping and sliding, and nearly falling over. Out of the two of us, he is the one who is holding me up, so it took me by surprise. I started to joke about how this would be the perfect place to propose and patted him down. About 36 seconds later he started going into a speech about how much he loved me and us, to which I cut him off saying "you can't joke about this. This isn't funny." When he didn't stop I realized what was happening and nearly blacked out. I of course said yes and I cannot wait to marry my best friend. We have already gone through many adventures together and I cannot wait for a lifetime of more.
